About the adventure

This game is meant for any and all experience levels of Vampire: The Masquerade and tabletops in general. You will play as kindred from all over the country being brought to the Queen of Disco herself, the toreador Baron Barbie Rose, to help her take over the Miami nightlife back from the Sabbat. She's taking anyone and everyone who is willing to throw in with her, and it always helps to have a little dirt on those that might need a little more convincing. That's where you come in, as you will play as kindred that Barbie has some dirt on, be it a breaking of the Masquerade or some other crime of the mortal or immortal world. She's using you in order to make sure you'll do the job right, and if you're motivated by means other than blackmail, then all the better! This will allow for new and old blood to get into the setting without having a major stake in the politics from the get go, which will allow everyone to learn at somewhat the same pace.

About me

I'm an American expat living in Costa Rica with my wife after meeting through a DnD game. I've been playing and running games of DnD since I was 12 years old and have been running and playing games consistently ever since. I've played through every system of DnD, Star Wars rpgs and have been getting into Pathfinder ever since 2nd edition came out. I'm also familiar with several other games such as VTM/Mage/most white wolf settings, Stars Without Number, and Call of Cthulhu. When it comes to Game Mastering I've become quite focused on both player agency, storytelling and roleplay while still trying to keep interesting combat encounters in order to keep things interesting. I tend to keep my games around 2-3 hours as I find that going for much longer leads to people running out of things to do, and it allows the drama of a scene reach its climax naturally without having to stay around for an extra hour just so we can get to "No, I am your father!"

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done mostly if not wholly from the main source book, starting level at level 1 and going from there. Any and all questions that might come up will be handled during the session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure you have a Discord account, as that is where most of the communication will be done. The game will be hosted on Foundry, so you don't need to make any profile for it. If you would like to keep track of your character out of game while Foundry VTT isn't open, you can use of 3rd party apps like the "Vampire v5 Characters" app by Anne Bullert, available on PlayStore and AppStore. I can also open Foundry VTT for you at almost any point during the week, you can just ask me privately. All I ask for you to come prepared other than that is an open mind for drama and a character concept for what crime they've done to let Barbie Rose use as blackmail.

What Kieran brings to the table

I am able to provide PDFs for Vampire: The Masquerade 5e books to players that need them, or links to useful apps that can allow players to keep track of their characters out of game. I tend to use maps when the scene requires it- either for combat or for something that needs a visual. I might use a photo to frame the scene, and then use theater of the mind the rest of the time. I prefer not using too many music queues as I prefer keeping you in the scene with my words and in the scene itself. Rules wise, I tend to go with what best works for the scene as well- if it is something reeeeeeeally cool I'll allow it to happen if you can somewhat/mostly justify it, but I keep to the rules the rest of the time for the sake of fairness.

Homebrew rules

I will try not to homebrew rules too much as I would prefer newer people to get a better sense of the rules by themselves before they start forming opinions on the system.

Safety

How Kieran creates a safe table

During the session 0, we will go over any content that are total limits for people and will be held to that standard until the end of the game. If anyone has any issues with how things are going, I will make it clear that they will always have every opportunity to send me a personal message via Discord of their safety tools or for any other issue they might be dealing with. If anyone has any issues with other people's limits, they have every opportunity to leave, and that will be made clear as well during session 0 as well.
