About the adventure

Scion: Humble Beginnings is an Origin-Level Campaign that introduces the players to the World of Scion Second Edition. As their characters begin to learn the true nature of the World, they discover their divine connections and move toward becoming Heroes. We'll kick the campaign off with A Night at the Club - a starter adventure for Scion: Origin. This story assumes the characters are pre-visitation Scions with no real idea about their true nature. Their lives up to the point of the adventure’s beginning may have contained a high concentrations of portents, omens, and bizarre coincidences — as the lives of Scions often do — but for the most part, their lives have been mundane up until the events of this adventure. For years, tabletop roleplaying games have often begun with the adventurers meeting up in a pub, inn, or bar. This story brings that classic premise into the urban fantasy setting of the World. Whether or not the characters know one another before arriving at Siren’s is up to the troupe to decide. Once everyone is present they’re quickly drawn into a conflict that peels back the thin veneer of normalcy in their lives and offers these nascent Scions their first steps into the truly fantastical.

Creating your character

We will meet for a session zero to create characters together, referring primarily to Scion: Origin.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Players will need a microphone, discord, and a free roll20 account. I will send the pertinent invitations on the day of the game through my discord. We'll either use roll20's die roller or the Storypath Dice Bot installed on my server.

Safety
How Travis Legge creates a safe table

We will begin with a session zero discussion where everyone lists things they do and do not wish to see, we discuss the safety tools in play, and we select ready-made characters for everyone. We'll use X, N, and O verbally or typed in the chat. We will have a brief discussion at the end of the session to go over likes and dislikes. We'll take one break in the middle of the session, but players may get up and leave the table as needed.
