About the adventure

Welcome to The World of Solee, a Heroic GURPS Fantasy. Solee takes place in the Sol System, on the third planet from the Sun (sound familiar?). There are tall tales and Legends of Old that speak of fantastical flying ships that once filled the skies and beyond. But those legends are dismissed by The Gods of Solee… or so the Clerics tell you.. The Fantasy World of Solee is a Heroic Fantasy world that explores themes of courage, duty, sacrifice, and the struggle between “good” and “evil”. However, be warned, what is “good” or “evil” is not always clearly defined. As Heroic Characters in Solee, you will be involved in epic quests, battles, mystery, and often find yourselves deciding the fate of an entire realm, or even the world! While the Elves relate: “The strength of a civilization is not measured by its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them!”, most Humans disagree. The Paladins of Kalaman tell you that Righteousness and Justice are decided by force and the ability to expel evil from the realms of men by might and magic. Adventures often focus on specific events, which, if ignored, WILL have consequences for NPCs and players in some way. Battle and conflict are common and often. Yet plot complications do not always culminate in an Epic Boss battle. Particularly wise or clever adventurers can occasionally find solutions that avoid battle, yet achieve the same results. Plot complications can frequently be solved in multiple ways. As a hero, choosing your path and ability is up to you. Heroes come in all types. Are you up to the challenge?

Character creation

Creating your character

Players start at 200 points. The Fantasy World of Solee is TL3 in most places; yet the Dwarves are TL4. Ritual Magic and Clerical Magic both exist. It is possible to even play a High Tech, TL10, character in this setting… but be warned, this is a Fantasy World where Magic and Tech do not coexist. The focus of this campaign will predominantly be High Fantasy, yet elements of technology also exist here. All of the traditional Middle-earth races, and more, exist; most are available as Player Character options. Familiarity with the GURPS play system is helpful, it is not required. New players are welcome and time will be spent to help learn GURPS... which is an awesome system.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord and Foundry VTT are used. Players will need to have a Discord account (which is free) for voice communications and a Microphone for Communication. *Please note that clear audio is essential for online roleplay and discussions of this type.* A web camera is encouraged, but not required. Players will also need access to either GURPS Character Sheet (GCS), a free character sheet creator, or GURPS Character Assistant (GCA) sold by Steve Jackson Games. Lastly, the FoundryVTT system is used, which requires a computer. (No software is required to be installed on your PC. Foundry is accessed via a web browser.) What Kirk brings to the table

Players will be provided free access to a Foundry Virtual Table Top webpage link. Upon registration, they will also be provided with a Discord link for communication with the GM and other players. Additional information regarding character generation will be provided before the start of the campaign. I will help players create their characters as needed.

Homebrew rules

I have a Player's Handbook, which admittedly is in significant need of an update, but provides additional details about the World of Solee. But for a few notable exceptions, the campaign is played using GURPS core rules and most books, as written.
