About me
Writing and dreaming fantastic stories has been an interest of mine for years. But when I started running games to stay connected to university friends, I found my love for tabletop roleplaying. What I enjoy most about these stories is their collaborative nature. Unlike creative writing, plot lines shift organically from the players choices, both in and out of character, and the final story is something that neither players nor the GM expected. I love presenting players with complicated choices, introducing twists to the story, and being surprised, in turn, by the the choices of the players. I think D. Vincent Baker said it best when he said "play to find out." So let's play.

Creating your character
Characters start at Level 14 —Characters get one free feat at level 1 —All officially published WoTC material can be used (following the 2014 Player's handbook and ruleset) —Ability scores will be determined using Standard Array or Point Buy (whichever the table prefers) Character creation will happen during or after session zero. Coming into the session with a character concept in mind is great, but nothing should be finalized until after we've talked as a group. Because of the nature of the campaign some conjuration spells (rope trick, plane shift, Gate etc.) will be off limits.

How Jay creates a safe table
During session zero we'll discuss what topics players find interesting and which ones they'd like to establish as lines or veils. I specifically want discuss what types of violence and death (e.g drowning and dismemberment) people are uncomfortable with. Combat and death are big parts of D&D 5e, and this game in particular can get dark because of the apocalyptic setting. So it's important for me to have an understanding of what kind of violence goes too far for my players. After session zero, the list of lines and veils will be available as a handout on Roll20. During play, players are free to use a digital X card whenever they feel the story has become triggering.
