About me
I believe that what makes a session memorable is what everyone brings when they sit down together. I believe in the Rule of Cool. When something awesome and cinematic is on the line, I lean into a “yes, and” approach that keeps the momentum going. I’ve run games for all ages and can adjust tone and content for younger players. I’m also experienced with corporate groups and can tailor sessions to fit team‑building or professional needs. The games I run highlight player skill and creativity. It’s not about perfect builds—it’s about how you play, not what you play. I keep meaningful consequences on the table, including injury and death, and I embrace the unknown, the dangerous, and the monstrous. Your choices, your reactions, and how you use the tools you have in the moment are what truly matter. If you enjoy playing imperfect characters, taking risks, and clawing victory from the jaws of disaster, we’ll get along well.

Creating your character
First‑level characters will be provided, but you’re welcome to make your own using Shadowdarklings: https://shadowdarklings.net/characters# Please Note: Custom characters are not available on the day of the event. Setting them up, uploading them, and linking tokens takes time. Save your character as a JSON file so I can load it into Foundry. You’ll also need a token—TokenStamp2 (https://rolladvantage.com/tokenstamp/) works great. Please use a round token, ideally the red/gold style so it stands out on the map. Tokens must be tasteful: no adult, political, or derogatory content.
We're continuing on from our June 5th session. There are a few more things to discover...including the Tomb of the Dusk Queen herself.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You’ll need a computer (a mouse helps a lot), a PC‑style headset with a mic, and a Discord account: https://discord.com/ If you want to skim the rules ahead of time, the free Shadowdark Starter Set is here — you only need the Player Quickstart Guide: https://www.thearcanelibrary.com/collections/shadowdark-rpg/products/shadowdark-rpg-quickstart-set-pdf We’ll be using Foundry VTT. If it’s new to you, a quick YouTube tutorial can help, but it’s not required: https://foundryvtt.com/
What Skulliver brings to the table
I’ll provide everything we need through Foundry VTT and set up a Discord space for the game. I love doing character voices and I’m big on the rule of cool and player creativity. We’ll be using the “pulp” option, which gives you reroll tokens. I hand these out for good roleplay, clever ideas, and the occasional quality dad joke. Disclaimer: Old‑school dungeons are dangerous—that’s part of the fun. Shadowdark assumes that character death is always possible. I’m not here to kill PCs, but I do run monsters, traps, and hazards as real threats. The danger is part of the tension and charm of the game.
Homebrew rules
This game uses the optional "pulp" rules for luck tokens.

How Skulliver creates a safe table
I use the Luxton Technique at my tables, which means players are always welcome to speak up about any feelings that come up during play. Since this is a one‑shot, we won’t know each other’s full histories or triggers, so I ask everyone to bring respect and good manners. I don’t tolerate bullying or xenophobia. At the same time, old‑school dungeon adventures are dangerous by design—monsters try to kill characters, and the unknown is part of the tension. The goal is to think as your character would when facing strange places, puzzles, traps, and foes, and enjoy that classic sense of discovery and danger without asking for major scenario changes on the fly.
