About the adventure
The Hardaval Empire is in ruins! A protracted Civil War has torn the once thriving nation apart, the scraps being claimed by those with enough gold and power. Evil, once cleansed from the surface, now emerges, eager to reclaim what was once theirs, before the humans arrived. The Civil War has claimed the lives of most of the fighting-aged citizens, so the ruined husks of once proud towns and cities lay uninhabited, at least by its former inhabitants. The Elves and Dwarves; both of which who had shared this continent with the humans have not been seen for a while, rightfully enough not wanting to have a part in the folly of these humans. The Empire is Decaying, but not dead. Will the party band together to try and aid the resurgence of the Hardaval Empire? Will they find that the old ways no longer fit with the new world, and hasten the death of a nation? Or will they take advantage of the chaos and carve out a piece of land for themselves? Whichever path lies ahead, the going will be rough, for this continent is rife with bandits, monsters and other worse things. The Decaying Empire is a Homebrew open world campaign that will take players from Level 1 to Level 20. The choices are many, but each has its consequences.

About me
I was hooked on TTRPG's at the age of 10 when I would sit outside my brother's door as he and his friends would play D&D for hours. It was not difficult to find people that wanted to play, but games were hard to start because no one wanted to DM. So it made sense that if I wanted to play, I was going to have to DM. So started the forever DM. I am venturing forth onto Start Playing to meet new players and bring this world that others have enjoyed to more people.

Creating your character
We will be using the 2024 D&D 5e Rules. Some older content such as spells and subclasses that have not yet been updated will be allowed. Only races from 2024 will be allowed. A stat array will be rolled by every player at session 0, using 4d6d1. Then, the party will all decide on which array to use collectively. This tends to a higher stat array, but no players being stuck with an inferior array. The campaign starts at level 1, and no evil players will be allowed. This campaign is an epic fantasy, and the cohesion of the group is very important. Loner or anti-group type characters would probably not fit well in this campaign.
2 players have joined, need 2 more for this epic story to begin. One other group is at level 4 in this world and we are all having a blast. Challenging combat, in depth backstory if you choose to engage with that, and interesting NPC's await!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a working microphone, a Discord account and a free Roll20 account. A working understanding of the 5E system and the changes for 2024 would be good, but not necessary as I can work to further the understanding of the players.
What The Dungeon Moogster brings to the table
We will be rolling dice and moving tokens on battle maps in my Roll20 Pro account with all necessary resources. We will be speaking and listening to ambient music using Discord, with cameras being optional. While all of the NPC's will have different personalities and goals, weirdly enough, they will mostly be using the same voice(I am no voice actor, but sometimes I try). I tend to stick with Rules as Written, but rarely stretch those for the perfect use of Rule of Cool.
Homebrew rules
Death should be a real fear. There are no resurrection spells in the world. However, the races of this land are a heartier breed and get advantage on death saving throws. I allow full flexibility for characters until the character reaches level 3. Anything may be changed and we play forward as if that was how it was from the start.
