About the adventure

If you're new to roleplaying games, look no further. This campaign — and this Game Master — will guide you every step of the way. Waterdeep is a city of endless streets, gilded towers, and shadowed alleys. Splendor masks the rot beneath, and wealth always comes at a price. You and your newfound companions meet in a tavern — but this is no ordinary tavern. The Yawning Portal is renowned as a gathering place for adventurers of all kinds. - Who will you talk to? - What will you drink? In this campaign, your characters aren't heroes — they are the protagonists. Each has a goal, carries secrets, and is ultimately flawed. The choices these characters make will shape how the adventure unfolds.

About me

Father, husband, nerd—and most importantly, Game Master. I primarily run Dungeons & Dragons campaigns with a strong focus on narrative and character-driven choices. My tables are cinematic and tend to have a healthy dose of roleplay and exploration, with meaningful combat that matters to the story. You can also expect plenty of terrible accents—delivered almost exclusively by me.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create characters collectively during Session Zero - a session dedicated to setting expectations, discussing safety tools, and aligning our characters goals to form a cooperative adventuring party. Session Zero will include, but not be limited to, joining a voice + video discord call, using the link provided to access the Roll20 VTT, setting expectations, discussing Safety Tools, then dive into character creation. Characters will start at Level 1, and progress through to level 5 by the end of the campaign. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to message me.

The current party

We currently have 4 players and are looking for 1–2 more to round out the party. You’ll join a group already invested in the plot — a great opportunity for new and returning players alike. The Party: - Renny, a shady human rogue with a good heart but isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty. - Rafeeq, a jolly halfling wizard chef who wants to open a magical bakery with the gold from this job. - Rowan, a mysterious dhampir noble fighter who is fighting against his new dark urges. - Seb, a lucky little human cleric who wants to hunt down and eliminate Beshaba assassins.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a stable internet connection, as well as headphones, a mic, and a webcam (I use my smartphone). As well as a Discord account and a Roll20 account — both are free.

What Kade brings to the table

In return, you'll get a patient and friendly Game Master, who knows the rules and has years of experience helping people learn the game. You'll also get access to the game materials necessary for an awesome campaign.

How Kade creates a safe table

During session zero we'll discuss any topics that are out of bounds. At any point a player feels uncomfortable, the can pause the game. We can then either discuss, or simply skip over whatever was making them feel uncomfortable. This is a joint hobby after all, and it's much more fun when everyone feels safe.
