About the adventure

In the high valley of Greenhollow, the days are quiet, the sheep are fat, and the worst thing you’ll usually face is a stubborn goat. Nestled between mossy hills and forgotten stone circles, the village thrives on tradition and a wary respect for old places—especially the Well That Shouldn’t Be. Dug before memory, ringed with black stone, and always cold to the touch, the well has been sealed for generations with heavy iron chains and prayer-etched boards. Until now. Strange music has begun rising from the depths—haunting, beautiful, impossible to forget. People dream of distant voices and vanish before morning. Flowers wilt near the well. Animals refuse to go near. The village is desperate, but no knights or scholars come to help. Instead, you—stablehands, shepherds, hedge-witches, outlaws, and oddballs—are all that’s left to stand between Greenhollow and whatever waits below. This is a tale of folk horror and first steps into legend. Beneath the moss and mud lie secrets older than kingdoms, sealed away for a reason. As you delve into forgotten tunnels and moonlit ruins, your choices will shape the valley’s future—and possibly awaken powers better left sleeping. Will you be the next names sung around Greenhollow’s hearths, or just another verse in a cautionary tale?

About me

Hi there, and welcome to Start Playing Games. I'm Nick, or as I usually go online, Cake. Currently specializing in PF2e, I've personally run the system since its inception in the playtests, and before that was a 1e GM since 2009. I've seen or run just about every 1st party campaign in both systems and love converting those older games to newer, smoother systems. That's not to say I don't know any other systems, having run Warhammer, 5e, World of Darkness, and even GURPS. I've GMed for hundreds of people from all walks of life over the years, and love making the experiences something that everyone looks forward to. Feel free to join the Discord server ahead of time! discord.gg/QH36ApbWZU Custom games, stories, and worlds are all available by private commission.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be collaborative in a session 0 environment, discussing both the goals of the system and what differences to expect.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Mic required, demiplane account strongly recommended. Currently roll20 will be the VTT used, however this may change as time goes on

What Nick (cake) brings to the table

Daggerheart plays well with lose, rule of cool style play as a whole. While RaW will be respected, to respect the intended game pace time generally will not be spent mid session to look up rules.

Homebrew rules

No codified homebrew in new systems!

How Nick (cake) creates a safe table

Session 0 will include general overviews of common safety tools, as well as why we will use breaks and the use of X cards
