Everyday Heroes - Changeling the Dreaming 20th Edition
Changeling: The Dreaming 20th Anniversary Edition | Campaign
About the adventure
You are a changeling: an odd yet wonderfully mystical combination of mortal flesh and fairy spirit from lands and times far flung and long forgotten. You walk through life as best you can, trying to avoid the banality of the DMV, lines at the grocery store, and daytime television because each of those things has the potential to seriously stifle that delightful spark of ingenuity and creativity that makes up your person. But one day you receive a calling to help a Bygone, a creature so ancient and inherently magical that the modern world passive works to grind them out of existence. It wants to escape to a land of dreams and will made real, but lacks the power to do so. And so it calls on the aid of local everyday people, those with drives and wonder in their hearts to help tithe it bits of magic so it may one day cross to a place that does not seek to stamp out its light. Lend aid to a Cousin of the Dreaming in this Chronicle about romanticizing everyday life and putting effort into community so all in it and around it can flourish. Make your changeling, establish their life, and step forth into the world as we know it, preparing to turn it on its head if need be to make sure everyone is taken care of.
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare
Webcams are encouraged but are in no way mandatory for playing. If you have no basis for World of Darkness or any of its content I would suggest watching videos to catch you up, watching actual plays to get familiar with the process, or simply asking me! I have no qualms with introducing people to the world and being patient with the rules systems. We will be using discord and theatre of the mind, so you will need a microphone capable device (preferably a stable desktop) and an imagination for roleplaying and any digital medium for character creation is fine by me so long as a version of it can be sent to me. Feel free to use your own dice or digital dice.
What I provide
I will be bringing any of the books required for play, all of the lore, and any resources needed for character creation. Both digital and physical dice are allowed within reason.
Gameplay details
his game will be combining the rules of the 20th anniversary editions of World of Darkness titles and therefore focuses on heavy themes of emotional struggle, contending with retaining or maintaining humanity despite a distinctly non human status, and generically dealing with how social and physical adversity can be dealt with by someone that has different means than the average person to deal with any issues that arise. Content can get heavy and very deep which is why safety tools are mandatory. Session zero will go over basic themes and character design as well as establishing boundaries and ways to navigate them for the campaign.

How will character creation work
During Session zero players will go over there idea for their character and establish what kind of entity they would like to play. Players can choose to finish their character on their own and show their final draft to me before the first session or get help from me or other players to help with the process. Characters will be Starting "level" for session 1, as in you would have just recently been introduced into the supernatural and from there we can discuss as a party how familiar you wish to be.
