About the adventure
Curtain Call – A Gritty Noir Fantasy Campaign Curtain Call is an original 20-session campaign set in the crumbling entertainment district of Lonnore, where survival means knowing when to play your part. A struggling theater troupe fights to keep their doors open with nightly performances, scraping by on meager ticket sales and sheer determination. But when the curtains fall, they take on a different role—solving the city’s forgotten crimes, the ones the wealthy and powerful want to disappear. The Story The stage is set. The audience is waiting. But in Lonnore’s fading entertainment district, the most dangerous performances happen offstage. The Grand Victoria was once the crown jewel of the city’s theater scene—a grand hall filled with laughter, music, and standing ovations. Now, its velvet curtains are threadbare, its chandeliers gather dust, and the only thing keeping it afloat is a troupe of performers too stubborn to let it die. But acting doesn’t pay the bills, and when the night’s applause fades, the real work begins. The troupe takes on the cases no one else will—missing people, stolen fortunes, buried secrets—solving crimes for the desperate and forgotten. After all, what is detective work but another kind of stagecraft? A little misdirection, a little improvisation, and the truth—ugly as it is—comes spilling out. Yet Lonnore has its own stories, and some are meant to stay buried. The deeper they dig, the more dangerous this game becomes. And in this city, there’s always someone watching from the wings, waiting for the final curtain to fall. What to Expect: 🔍 A City of Lies & Secrets – Corruption festers in the shadows, and everyone is playing a part. Can you tell truth from performance? 🎭 Theater & Found Family – You may be outcasts, but the stage is home. Your troupe is all you have—but trust can be just another illusion. 🕵️ Sleuthing & Social Deception – Cases aren’t solved with swords alone. Expect whispered deals, veiled threats, and high-stakes gambits. 🃏 Masks, Disguises & Double Lives – Your skills as a performer are your greatest asset. Who you are depends on who’s watching. ⚖️ Choices With Consequences – Justice in Lonnore is a rare commodity. Will you play by the rules, rewrite the script, or burn the whole production down? Creating your character
Before the first session, please come up with three different character concepts that would fit into this adventure. These concepts should include the following: - Character Name: - Preferred Species/Lineage: - Personality: - Preferred Party Role: Also think about what they want to accomplish, why do they need to accomplish it, and what keeps standing in their way (internal or external). These answers should easily fit into the following sentence: "I want to _________ because I need to _________ but ___________ stands in my way." Please bring these three different concepts to the first session and be willing to compromise when creating characters with the rest of your party at the table. Alternatively you may choose one of six robust pregen characters. I will share them with everyone before we first meet.
