About the adventure

Welcome to Brindlewood Bay, a sleepy little New England town where nothing dangerous ever happens. Except, of course, the murders that seem to take place every other week. Thankfully, the Bay has its own special heroes, detectives who can solve any crime given to them, and knit the victims' families a lovely sweater to boot! These are the Murder Mavens; brought together by their shared love of murder mysteries (in particular, the Gold Crown Mysteries), this book club of septuagenarians became to proficient at solving fictional murders, that they began poking their wrinkled noses into true crime as well. But they had better be careful, something is stirring in the darkness, and not even the most skilled detectives can see what's being summoned back from fathoms below... Brindlewood Bay is a cozy murder mystery blended with cosmic, eldritch horror themes. Players will take on the role of a Murder Maven, an elderly murder mystery fan who has taken to solving crimes in her small town. With a heavy emphasis on story telling and mystery solving, Brindlewood Bay captures the essence of shows like 'Murder She Wrote,' 'Marple', and 'Vera', while adding in just a dash (at first) of Lovecraftian Horror. So put on your detective hat and your comfiest cardigan, because there's murder abound in Brindlewood Bay, and nobody's off the suspect list...

How to prepare

We will primarily use Zoom for our sessions, though there's no need for players to pay for any sort of account. A webcam is ideal, as it will help us all be in the space together, but I completely understand if players are uncomfortable with this for any reason. Players will use two or three six-sided dice, a pencil and paper, character sheets that will be sent to them ahead of time, and their best detective skills at the ready! Character and Reference Sheets found here: 730993556-Brindlewood-Bay-Play-Sheets.pdf

What I provide

I have the core rule book, as well as essential PDFs that I send to players before the first session. I don't operate on D&D beyond, but all characters the players meet will have distinct character voices, so as to better immerse themselves in the mystery.

Gameplay details

Brindlewood Bay has a curated system for safety tools. All campaigns have a built in Session 0 with character creation and Lines and Veils detailed in full. All sessions are virtual, so X, N, and 0 cards can be sent through the chat.

How will character creation work

Character Creation is guided through the built in Session 0 for the game, and it's very straightforward. I will provide all needed materials upon player signup. Stats are extremely simple, and very little prep is required of the players, making it perfect for those who want to join a simple, cozy murder mystery.
