How will character creation work

Character Creation & Roleplay Guidelines 1. Motive to Adventure • Every character should have a strong reason for joining this quest. It could be curiosity, duty, wanderlust, revenge—just be sure it influences how your character makes decisions. 2. Alignment & Decision-Making • Choose a clear alignment (e.g., Chaotic Good, Lawful Neutral) and lean into it when making tough calls. • Your character’s moral compass can (and often should) create interesting dilemmas. Don’t be afraid to explore that tension in-game. 3. Flaws & Strengths • Include at least one vital flaw—something that can complicate your character’s life, create conflict, or spark growth. • You can have more than one flaw, but keep it manageable so it’s fun to explore, not overwhelming. • Showcasing your strengths is often more natural in play. Your flaw(s) add depth and provide great storytelling moments. 4. Dynamic Interactions • Think beyond hair color or clothing style—how does your character feel about other species, social classes, or rival adventurers? • Have they encountered people of the same class as the other party members? Allies, rivals, mentors? • Craft traits or beliefs that spark interesting dialogue and group storytelling. 5. Roleplay & Inspiration • Good roleplay (leaning into your character’s personality, flaw, or alignment) is rewarded with Inspiration, which grants a re-roll on a d20 check. • Use your character’s quirks and motivations to drive the narrative—you’ll have more fun, and you’ll also rack up those Inspiration points! 6. Other Core Guidelines • Level 1: Keep your backstory in line with a novice or someone transitioning to an adventuring life. • Ability Scores: Stick to Point Buy or Standard Array. • Ruleset: Use 2024 (One D&D) rules where applicable; older 5e for classes like Artificer. • Unearthed Arcana: Allowed if cleared with the GM first.
