About the adventure
You have come to Candlekeep seeking aid for a stricken town. The settlement has withered this year. Crops have failed, the livestock stands in the fields like stick figures, and the rain has dwindled. The townsfolk determined that a curse had been levied on the land and recommend that you seek aid from a sage named Matreous. They found that Matreous was studying in Candlekeep and sent you and your party to find him. However Matreous has not been seen since entering the giant library.

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Dungeon Crawl
A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

How to prepare
Everything needed for this one-shot will be provided to you, except for the characters that you have already created. Please have a working mic. Webcam is not required. Make sure to have accounts/access to: Discord D&D Beyond Roll20 Beyond20 (optional)

Gameplay details
This is a beginner friendly one-shot mystery adventure. Rules can be explained as we go! We'll have a 15 minute break halfway through the session. Roll20 for maps and cinematic backgrounds with Discord for party voice chat. Webcams aren't required. Please reach out to me any way you feel comfortable to bring up ANY topics that you don't want to see/play. This could be before or during the session through dm's, voice chat, or other means.

How will character creation work
Please have a *LEVEL 1* character ready for this mystery adventure! All races & classes are allowed! Have fun making a unique character! Any magic items, weapons, or armor will have to be approved before the start of the game. The main setting for this one-shot is in the giant library-city of Candlekeep.
