About the adventure
At Dark Star University, knowledge is power, and power is dangerous. Hidden within orbiting crystalline spires beyond the sky, this secretive magic academy draws those too ambitious, too monstrous, or too reckless for the world below. Here, secrets are currency, the line between genius and madness is razor-thin, and the pursuit of magic knows no bounds. But in a place where even the walls whisper forbidden truths, one question remains: will you master the darkness, or will it consume you? This is a high fantasy monster high style adventure full of whacky antics and even whackier characters. Whether you're a mad mage bent on unlocking universe altering power, a bookish overachiever seeking the secrets of the cosmos, or simply a misfit or monster looking to fit in, all are welcome at DSU! Our story will be highly narrative and character focused with homebrew elements, and custom art sprinkled in for a truly unforgettable tale. *This is a Play-by-Post game, meaning gameplay is achieved asynchronously through text in a dedicated Discord server. This style of play is perfect for people with busy or difficult schedules, people who appreciate a little extra time to ponder character choices, or just anyone who likes to read / write!
Game style
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Elixir was the first dm that I ever played dnd with—I was nervous to start playing because I didn’t know anything about the rules or even how to create a character. She went above and beyond to help me feel comfortable and provided excellent support every step of the way. She puts hours and hours of time into creating elaborate worlds, multifaceted stories, and dozens of unique and diverse npc’s. Our campaign was done both in person and online and both felt equally immersive and engaging. I can’t recommend her enough, playing with any other game master just isn’t the same.
Speaking as someone who has played in a lot of Elixir's in-person games for years, I can confidently say playing in games run by her provides such a fun and unique experience every time. No two games she runs are the same, even if it's the same module. She's really great at personalizing the story for each player and keeping things really fun. Inclusive, super creative, and a deeply skilled storyteller.
Not only is she wonderful at being very responsive and inclusive, but she’s also extremely descriptive with her narration! A glance at her campaign server shows just how organized she is too, which makes for a much more seamless experience in finding specific information or just roleplaying in general.
Very fun, super creative and a naturally gifted storyteller. 5 stars without a doubt. Love to be on any adventure she runs or even is just a part of. Brings a refreshingly new and intriguing take on things that are normalized in most other campaigns, and lets players run with their own creative direction so you feel like you always have a hand in the story. Also a fantastically talented artist, getting a commission of my Warlock soon
She's my favorite DM that I've ever played with, and I've been playing dnd for about 7 years now. She knows all the rules, but also knows when "rule of cool" is a good option without making it feel unnatural. She's especially wonderful at keeping each player's experience in mind and she goes out of her way to ensure that everyone gets what they want out of her games. She's fantastic and accomodating for both new players and experienced ones. Basically, she always knows exactly how to keep things fun for everyone. Could not reccomend her more.

Gameplay details
Each player will fill out a safety and consent form prior to the game starting which will inform the Lines (topics to avoid during the game) & Veils ('Fade to Black' or offscreen topics) for our table. We will also have a free Session 0 week before the game begins to go over expectations, rules, character creation, and backstories. During the game I will set aside regular times for feedback on story and character progression & direction using Stars (things you're enjoying) & Wishes (things you'd like to see included or changed). And, of course, real life comes first. If you ever need to step out of the game, temporarily or permanently, you are free to do so no questions asked, however I would appreciate a heads up if you do need to disappear for a while so I know not to wait for you.
