About the adventure
Welcome to the Dungeon of the Mad Mage! Lying beneath the city of Waterdeep is the massive 23 floors of sprawling dungeons known as the Undermountain. It is dangerous, deadly, labyrinthian, and bizarre. You will be playing as a group of adventures descending deeper and deeper into the complex for your own heroic and greedy goals. Monsters lurk around every corner. Puzzles and traps halt your progress. Warring factions turn the dungeon tunnels into battlegrounds. And at the bottom of this treacherous hike lurks the Made Mage himself, the all-powerful warden who controls the entire dungeon. So, descend into the dungeons. Bring a torch, some rope, and an unhealthy dose of optimism. This adventure is a love letter to the old-school dungeons of D&D and, as such, caution is advised.

How to prepare
All you need is a microphone and a Discord account. We will be playing via Roll20, but if you're unfamiliar with how that system works we will be going through it during Session 0. Anyone 18 and older is welcome to join, but this campaign will be very combat-heavy and challenging, so consider carefully if this is right for you if you are a new player.

Gameplay details
Dungeon of the Mad Mage is largely player-led. Your characters will decide where to travel in the Undermountain, how to proceed through various levels, and return to the surface for resting and selling your loot for new weapons and gear. There is certainly room for roleplaying, but ultimately this campaign is focused on dungeon delving, slaying monsters, and acquiring loot. The sandbox nature of the campaign means that player choice will mean the difference between life and death, and if the party accidentally finds themselves down the wrong corridor, nobody will come to save them. This campaign will include frequent combat and violence against horrible factions of the Underdark. As such, themes of extreme violence, body horror, and racism may pop up throughout play. We will be using safety tools to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and the campaign can be modified to accommodate all players.
