Dwarf Fortress! | Chronicles of the Militia

Dwarf Fortress! | Chronicles of the Militia

Pathfinder 2e | Campaign

About the adventure

🗺️ Deep beneath the rugged peaks, your miners have breached the walls of a vast cavern, rich with iron and gemstones, but unknown dangers lurk in the darkness. ⚔️ As part of the outpost militia, it is your privilege and greatest honour to be the first to step into the unknown, for the glory of all Dwarf-kind. Goblins, were-creatures, necromancers, and ancient horrors stand in your way, but it is nothing that Dwarven Steel can't handle. In this campaign you will: - Be a Dwarf! - Wear the heaviest armour. - Wield the heaviest weapons! - Defend the outpost. - Lead bold expeditions into the depths and into the overlands. - Arcane and Occult Magic exists out there, but we are Dwarves!!! We deal in Runes, Divine, Earth magic. - Hard work ensures that your humble settlement grows from a simple mining camp into a mighty fortress. Expect heavy homebrew, epic battles, and deep roleplaying opportunities as the Fortress expands. New players will feel at home. We use Pathfinder because of its excellent martial and gun mechanics. D&D 5e players always pick up the rules easily. The actual start time/day can be discussed with the other players. Session 0 and 1 are Free. Come on over, ask me anything.

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Recruiting notes

Our first player is a Dwarven Rifleman with Blacksmithing and Alchemy proficiency. Bombs and gunpowder-related items will be plentiful in this campaign.

He allowed the pc time to work things out between themselves. He didn't try ram things through. He rewarded ingenuity, and sticking to the theme/vibe of the game.

An excellent balance between roleplaying and combat. brought together on a unique background. Three different characters with differing backgrounds.

He makes an effort to accommodate the IRL needs of his players by adjusting, and is willing to bend the rules if it better serves the story.

Eks is great. I'm new to Pathfinder and he absolutely makes it easy to pick up and play. His games are fun and exciting, from the roleplaying moments to exiting combat situations. He is also a very kind DM, trying to keep things fun and lending rule of cool moments to players. His homebrew adventure is very interesting, with plenty of surprises. I'm excited to continue our adventure.

I came in not knowing much about pathfinder 2e, just DND 5e, it was a great experience to have someone help me make my character and experience how to play Pathfinder!

How will character creation work

- Everybody on the team will be a dwarf. That's the point of this campaign. - We can create homebrewed backgrounds for more immersion. - Dwarf-flavoured classes are encouraged. Other classes will work as long as they don't break the dwarven immersion. (Psionicist? Arcane mage? Probably not.) - Divine magic will be available, but the other disciplines are not readily available to dwarves. - Magic items exists, but are rare. Item quality is achieved mainly through masterwork crafting and superior materials. The rune system for upgrades will work. - No evil characters! The players should be good towards each other and the friendly NPCs. Player backgrounds will have an impact eventually, definitely! Player decisions will change the story and locations you visit. I create my own maps in Inkarnate, so I will build the world as you expand.
