About the adventure

Welcome to Devilport, a nasty, violent and lucrative city on the shore of the Devil Sea. Inspired by the GTA videogames in a dark fantasy setting with pirates, were-sharks, gangs, duelists, and brutal and nightmarish magic. = PLOT = A group of villagers from a nearby rural area finally set foot in Devilport after decades hearing of its marvels and perils. They've been tasked with a life-or-death mission for their village: to find the magical ingredients to protect the village from a banshee's imminent attack. But things will twist rapidly in Devilport for them. Will they adapt fast enough to the intricacies of the crime-laden city? Will they survive their dangers? And most interestingly, will they thrive, gain power, and raise over its many competing factions and power-hungry inhabitants? = Custom D&D 5E = With my innovative custom take on D&D, I offer a game that combines a deep narrative experience with a crime gang sandbox setting. The sophisticated narratology involves dramatic realism and character depth, while valuing role-play over crunchiness. This game is beginner friendly.

About me

I'm Kels, a fantasy writer, board game creator, and your soon-to-be favorite GM (hopefully!). I started running games when I was 11 yo, and I’ve been doing it ever since, for 22 years now. I GM Dungeons & Dragons, World of Darkness, or my own game Heroes of Darkness (a mix of the two). With a background in social sciences and a passion for anthropology, history, and linguistics, I love creating nuanced settings and immersive stories. Let’s roll some dice and tell a great story together!

Character creation

Creating your character

IMPORTANT: Character creation will be done differently than in your usual D&D game. First, a Player Preferences form (5 minutes) will inform me about your ttrpg taste and your expectations for this game, which I will use to tailor the game to your desires. Second, a Character Creation form will introduce you to the world, the lore, and will give you the options to design your character. Alternatively, we can have a 15-20 minute videocall beforehand and discuss everything in real time. I find this option more cumbersome due to scheduling complications, but it's up to you. Once you register for the game, you will have access to all the necessary links to dive deep into the Chronicles of Devilport.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You need webcam and mic. You need some 15-20 minutes for character creation, either spent with the forms or with the videocall. Character creation should be done at least 1 hour before the start of the game, but if you don't have time, you can jump along with a pre-made character I'll provide.

- Extensive worldbuilding associated to my novels and other work. - Custom take on D&D to adjust it to darker, more narrative and more psychological type of games. - A living city sandbox inspired by the GTA franchise but in a dark fantasy setting. - Ambient music. - Character voices. - 20+ years of experience in ttrpg and fantasy writing.

Homebrew rules

Many. I DM with a very flexible, custom take on D&D. Be ready for that.
