[Learn to Play] As the Leaves Fall
Realms of Pugmire | One-Shot
About the adventure
Beneath the boughs of the Fearful Forest, something is stirring. Travelers have gone missing, roads have disappeared, and whole swathes of the forest have fallen silent. As the Leaves Fall is a short level 1 adventure for 3 - 6 players (characters can be provided) with some light puzzle-solving, opportunities for social role-playing, and a cinematic climax.
Game style
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Game Master Reviews (3)
The ST keeps excellent notes during his sessions. And makes timely call backs to previous events in the story. Two ex lovers are currently having a tiff and it's been running for the last few weeks. It's hysterical. Creative scenarios. Descriptive Dreamscapes. The ST niche is presenting a supernatural mystery. Good use of symbolism. ST allows players to go towards the depth of RP and Horror themes they are comfortable with. Some of the players were in the deep end and some were at the shallow end. And balancing that was well done. I would love to see what this ST can do unleashed.

How to prepare
At minimum, players will need a microphone and a willingness to respect the time of their fellow players. Familiarity with the rules would be useful, but isn't necessary.
What I provide
I'm queer (pansexual and genderfluid), and can provide pre-generated characters (through D&D Beyond or PDF character sheet), access to a Foundry server through a third-party hosting service (no account required), and a willingness to work with players to allow them to do whatever they want within the mechanics of the game. I can also provide a Zoom meeting for the audio/video needs, although no video is required. 'Yes, and' and 'No, but' are both tools in my arsenal and, as a contributing freelancer to the Realms of Pugmire gameline, I know the mechanics well enough to twist them in interesting ways and produce, hopefully, interesting and exciting results.
Gameplay details
I have an editable Google Sheet based on the Monte Cook Consent Checklist that I will send out ahead of time and the X/N/O card can be conveyed however the player is comfortable communicating it.
