About the adventure

Free the dying world of Athas! BLOOD AND SAND is a D&D campaign taking place in the post-apocalyptic fantasy world of the famed DARK SUN setting. Break the chains of slavery to become a hero underneath the dark sun! BLOOD AND SAND will begin at level 2, with the story eventually taking characters as far as level 12 (and possibly beyond!). The adventure will be run on Foundry VTT using the 2014 D&D 5e rules, though Discord will facilitate voice chat throughout the session, as well as a few dice rolls. Players will be provided a document with homebrew rules for the DARK SUN setting, including available races, classes, and new mechanics.

About me

Hey! My name's Jeremy, though I go by Mando in most circles. I'm an experienced GM who's been running D&D 5e nearly every week for the last four years, and I've been in a good share of campaigns and one-shots. Since running TTRPGs is my passion, I figured I'd extend some of the skills I've learned over the last four years to making an enjoyable game that will help me pay for some small weekly expenses I have from going to college.

Character creation

Creating your character

You will be playing 2nd level characters in BLOOD AND SAND, using the D&D 5e Character Creation rules alongside rules provided in a homebrew Dark Sun Player Primer. Characters will be created together during Session 0 on Foundry. All restrictions on Character Creation will be present in the previously mentioned primer.

The current party

[The party is currently at level 4!, we have a beast barbarian, an enlightened psion (homebrew), and a hexblade templar] After escaping from a slave caravan and getting involved in the struggles of a dwarven village and elven raider tribe, our trio of desert adventurers have finally made their way to the City of Tyr in its time of turmoil. After countless decades of construction, the tyrant king Kalak's ziggurat nears completion, and all of Tyr holds its breath as their Sorcerer-King's grip tightens around their throats. Innocents are being pressed into slavery to finish the great ziggurat, and our heroes have now discovered just in just how much trouble they may soon be...

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a mic for discord, and an account for Forge hosting on Foundry VTT. Prior to the game on my discord server, you will be given a primer to introduce you to the setting of Dark Sun and its unique mechanics for Character Creation.

What MandoTheGM brings to the table

I have a Roll20 membership and such will bring access to that VTT's many features, including lots of maps and tokens, as well the occasional usage of features like dynamic lighting to set the mood. I am also a very homebrew-friendly DM who likes to allow the usage of 'Rule of Cool' moments to spice up my sessions.

Safety

How MandoTheGM creates a safe table

DARK SUN is a setting with many dark themes, so players can expect proper safety tools to be in use, and you have my assurance that the narrative will never claim the evils of slavery are good. X, N, & O cards will be digital and provided through the Roll20 system for quick and easy usage.
