Pathfinder 2e | Campaign

About the adventure

This is an introduction game for players (and me!) to learn Pathfinder 2.0. I have played Pathfinder 1.0 and D&D 3.5, but haven't gotten a chance to mess around with the new rules. This will be a short, 1-3 session campaign focused on a single party that goes wrong, a hostage situation that the party is available to help with. Should we decide that we want to continue playing these characters, all experience will carry over. We will have a session 0 where we look over character sheets, discuss basic backgrounds and character introductions, and player and GM expectations. This campaign will be free, and any follow up campaigns will be paid.

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

What I provide

I will have custom maps on Roll20, as that is my preferred platform, however I am also very flexible and willing to do theater of the mind with things in discord. I have a flexible "yes, and" (and 'no, but') approach, and will look for opportunities to roleplay everything within world, including character motivations, hints to things the players know outside the game inside the world, and ambient music. Combat for me is something I really enjoy, coming from a Warhammer 40k background, though I am happy tailoring to the party's preference. I do embrace the rule of cool, rules are always secondary to the story, and want to ensure that each player gets a chance to shine and show their own prowess!

Gameplay details

During Session 0, I will provide a questionnaire as well as Monty Cook's RPG Consent checklist. We will discuss any possible hard lines and very clearly set boundaries and expectations together!

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen in Session 0 - you are certainly encouraged to bring an idea and plan of how you will complete your character! Stats will be done by standard array, usually starting at level 3 for D&D 5e campaigns, and level 1 for Pathfinder 2.0 campaigns. In Session 0 we will confirm any ideas you have or tweak them to make them work!
