About the adventure

It is the year 1920 and you have been hired by one Mr. Knott, a landlord in central Boston. You see, Mr. Knott has a problem. Or rather, he has a house to sell, which would not be a problem if only he could find a buyer willing to look past the rumors and superstition. The Corbitt House is cursed, some say, or haunted. and the most recent tragedy hasn't helped its reputation one bit. Coincidence, surely! Yet it seems that even in this age of reason and science, superstition is woefully common. He has given up on finding new tenants and just wants to sell the thing before his investment becomes even more of a money-sink. He hopes you and your fellow investigators can use your unique skills and talents to address the matter and dispel these ridiculous rumors. Preposterous, sinister, ghastly rumors...

About me

Ever since I was young, I loved diving headfirst into fictional worlds, absorbing myself in their lore, layouts and stories. When I discovered TTRPGs, I fell in love with the depth and fun of collaborative storytelling, and the humor, tragedy, comedy and horror that it evokes in a way no other medium can. To run and play an RPG is a chance to live a different life, to step outside of ourselves for a while. I've been playing and running games for years now, and I've decided to have a go at it at a professional level. I get to play with new and diverse people, expand my repertoire, and earn some cash for peanut butter cups.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will begin prior to play. Players may either roll for their stats or use an array. If you'd prefer to use a pre-made character, fear not, for several are available. You'll be individuals with no prior interaction with things from beyond the stars, so don't worry about memorizing any eldritch tomes.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please ensure you having a working microphone for the game, as well as an account on Discord. No webcams will be necessary. I require that you fill out your lines and veils prior to the game. This game will be beginner friendly, and I will happily assist any player that gets stuck. That being said, please give the free quick-start rules for CoC 7e a look over if you do not have a copy of the investigators handbook prior to play.

What Jacob brings to the table

I'll be using Foundry VTT! All you need is to click on a link I'll send you and you'll be set to go, able to play from your browser. You'll be able to manage your investigator, dice rolls, and everything else on there. I am happy to help players create their own character or choose from pre-generated characters that I will provide. I always recommend to players that they keep a backup sheet just in case. I'll be providing some maps, though no small amount of our play will be theater of the mind. Links will also be provided for the Call of Cthulhu free rules and interactive PDF. I like to run my sessions with ambient music and sound effects, along with some period music. I enjoy giving my characters unique voices. I tend to adhere to rules as intended, and consider play a collaborative process. Fun and horror will come first. My games are LGBT+ inclusive and my priority is always that everyone feels safe to engage with the story and have a great time!

Safety

How Jacob creates a safe table

Call of Cthulhu is a game about horror, and by nature is designed to disturb and unsettle. This makes it all the more important that, prior to play, we go through the our safety tools. All players will be sent a link to Lines and Veils. X, N, & O's may be sent either privately via discord and/or through Foundry, or out loud. I have an open-door policy, and will always listen to concerns.
