About the adventure
Published by Free League, Heart of Darkness is a tense cinematic scenario where you play scientists sent to investigate a prison space station where nothing is what it seems. It’s perfect for those who only played Chariot of the Gods, as it serves as the direct continuation of the Cronus’ story, but it could also perfectly be played by someone who never tried Alien RPG before. The characters, the setting, the situations you will have to jump in, everything is made to give you the Alien vibes you have been looking for. The scenario should last around 6 sessions, as the station is vast and there is a lot to deal with there. However, it’s also an excellent introduction for the Lost Worlds official campaign. If we end up having a group working well together and willing to keep playing, I will likely offer you to carry on with the Building Better Worlds campaign afterward. What if you don’t know anything about the game? It’s perfectly okay, I will explain the rules as we play. Game mechanics are pretty simple, with a strong focus on the cinematic experience and characters’ agendas that rarely all go the same way. Treason and character deaths are always a possibility here, if you aren’t killed by a deadly monster with metal teeth first. Oh, and did I mention you can play a cat?! 🔹 A cinematic and immersive experience 🔹 A strong focus on the players’ agenda and interactions 🔹 A mature and deadly hard sci-fi world, where death is never far 🔹 An easy-to-learn system, based on Free League’s Year Zero Engine 📘 I am a Free Agent, part of Free League’s ambassador program for conventions. I ran literally hundreds of Alien RPG games during different events, and every game I present on Startplaying has been thoroughly playtested before with other groups. This is allowing me to offer you the most immersive experience possible, with official maps, artworks, music and animated scenes.
Game style
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
📅 I usually offer games on weekdays. I can do evenings for American Eastern/Western times, as well as for OCE and East Asian time zones. I only do afternoons for EU friends however. If you want to play at a time that isn't listed here, feel free to leave me a private message to see if we can set up something.
