D&D 5e (2024) - Tyranny of Dragons Campaign! | Homebrew Galore!

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

In an audacious bid for power, the Cult of the Dragon, along with its dragon allies and the Red Wizards of Thay, seek to bring Tiamat from her prison in the Nine Hells to Faerûn. To this end, they are sweeping from town to town, laying waste to all those who oppose them and gathering a hoard of riches for their dread queen. The threat of annihilation has become so dire that groups as disparate as the Harpers and Zhentarim are banding together in the fight against the cult. Never before has the need for heroes been so desperate. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome aboard to Tyranny of Dragons...with a little bit of a twist. I am somebody who loves to change up modules to enhance the experience of the player. This campaign will be reactive in the sense that not every moment will be on the beaten path and will have some unique moments along the sword coast. If you have played this module before and are not sure you'd want to again, I implore you to give this one a chance. My campaigns are heavily shaped by player actions and it will reflect as such even in a module. We will be utilizing discord for voice chat and play the game on Roll20. Character's will start at level 1 and advance up to 15 by the end of the campaign. If the result of the module is positive for the players and all live, we can continue past with a bit of a homebrew adventure I have in mind. I look forward to getting a chance to DM for you all!

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

What I provide

Plenty of content access on Roll20 to craft your perfect character. I do a million different voices for characters in my games, it keeps me entertained. I will help you create and make a token for your character that fits your imagination. My DM style is definitely roleplay-heavy. I have been roleplaying online since I was a kid and I love stepping into a role that's not myself. When combat comes, I definitely love it in DnD just as much and will try to keep everyone entertained through descriptions of the battle to make it feel like everyone is making an impact. I am a DM that tries to respect the rules greatly, but if it makes things fun I will 100% bend them.

Gameplay details

Basically just have an open door policy, if there is an issue with a theme we are touching on I implore you to reach out to me on the side (anonymously to the group) and we will move on from that theme and not touch it again. We can have debriefs after each session to make sure folks are alright, but I am a pretty gritty DM be forewarned.
