Peril & Plunder | A D&D One-Shot
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot
About the adventure
“Plunder & Peril! A pirate-themed one-shot for D&D 5e. Play as a crew of plucky pirates as they take the plunge, searching for treasure on a map stolen from a careless sailor. Will you find wealth? Will you claim power? Or will you succumb to madness? Only the gods can tell.”
Game style
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Dungeon Crawl
A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!
Combat Heavy
“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

How to prepare
A microphone, Roll 20 account are required for play. But a camera and Watch2Gether account are optional. Reading or knowing the rules ahead of time are helpful, but also, optional. My games are newbie friendly.
What I provide
I run my games on Roll 20 with custom maps, and tokens. And music will be played through Watch2Gether. A link to each will be provided. My games tend to feature lots of adventure, atmosphere, and whimsical and absurdist humor. Most of my combat scenarios are far from deadly, but every now and again, I like to throw a tough challenge at my players, and smile as I watch them overcome.
Gameplay details
A document for session 0 has been written and will be read out and sent to those who wish to follow along. In in I go through the DM and player expectations and boundaries. Emphasizing player comfort and enjoyment. X cards can be sent through discord, or shown on video when players feel they need to do so. And the open door is of course available for everyone. This is a judgement-free zone. After the game I like to around the table and ask for feedback (positive and negative), as well as do a vibe-check to see how everyone is feeling. And make sure everyone had a good time at the table.

How will character creation work
For character creation, I allow the use of official and third party material. If players have homebrew material they would like to use, we can go over them together and make sure that it's not too broken. Characters will start at level 5, and character creation will take place at the start of the session (though, if they have a pre-existing character that fits the criteria, they are welcome to use those as well). I will also have pregenerated characters for players to choose from.
