AvinivA Second Chance

AvinivA Second Chance

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Waking up in a tight bind and a dark, damp room, you find yourself completely unable to move. Bindings cut into your body, digging so deep into your skin that every movement and twitch of your muscles causes spasms of pain to arc through your being. There is no light, but you can feel cold metal underneath where you are lying. The smell of iron and rancid flesh permeates whatever room you're in, making each breath a trial. As you try to gather your senses, you finally hear something more than your own heartbeat thudding in your ears. Breathing. Aviniva Second Chance is a Game full of political intrigue and terrifying fights where the players will find themselves waking already in captivity, unknowing of how they got there and missing their memories of the past year. This game is the player's second chance to fix everything where they failed before. What they failed at? How they got captured? Why can't they remember anything? Come play and find out! This game is a level 3 - 20 campaign, homebrew is allowed as long as it is communicated and verified by the DM beforehand.

Game style

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Combat Heavy

“Combat Heavy” games emphasize the combat mechanics within their systems over roleplay or puzzle solving. There are frequent and longer battles with enemies and a greater emphasis on tactical game play.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Additional details

How to prepare

- Have a working mic - Discord app or web app - Have a lvl 3 character prepared or at least in the works if you need help making it - If you are a beginner, communicate with the DM beforehand, and more help will be provided to you personally

What I provide

- Constant Character voices to the best of my ability - I try to stick to the rules of D&D, but if they don't serve our story or get in the way of our enjoyment, then Rule of Cool is the way to go as long as it makes sense. - Music is provided and sometimes even canon in the world - Players can expect a lot of images of characters and locations since the game is theatre of the mind.

Gameplay details

Session 0 will consist of us going over one another's characters and introducing ourselves, hammering out our schedules and payment, and a small bit of gameplay to get ourselves situated in the world and excited for the next session. Combat will be fast-paced and description-heavy; the hope is that the players will bring their own style and flair to the actions of their characters, solidifying themselves and their personality in every action they take (But we all understand if that is not always possible or causes combat to slog). The players can expect moderate to frequent combat encounters depending on their own actions. This game will have a small sort of open-world feel where the players will have the opportunity to build a name for themselves and even a life and home if that's what they want.

How will character creation work

- Players should make their lvl 3 characters before session zero or at least start so we can discuss and clean them up during the first half of the session. - If the players plan or would like to use homebrew content, they should reach out to the DM first to see if it's allowed, no classes or races are banned. Though some may be buffed depending on certain circumstances (aka Ranger, Wildfire Druid) - Players can create the character sheets on any platform they care to use as long as they can share those sheets with the DM - Starting stats should be standard array
