The Eye Below
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
There’s this old dilapidated manor, just outside town. Monmire Mansion, they call it. And strange things have been happening in there. It started with a soft, but persistent moaning coming from somewhere inside the house. Not long after, the rafters starting creaking and the shutters slammed open and shut, even when no one was nearby, and it was windstill. The local youth, always up for a scary challenge, dared each other to enter the house, and stay there for 30 minutes at night, as a test of bravery. They noticed vases breaking and doors shutting on their own. That wasn’t too bad, so the adventures inside the mansion continued. But then a boy, Oakley Crann, went missing. His friends dared him to go in, and he never came back out. They never found his body either. Now it’s up to you, brave adventurers, to get to the bottom of this. The Eye Below is a short campaign aimed at beginning players who love a mystery. The campaign can be finished in 3-4 sessions of 2-2.5 hours
Game style
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

How to prepare
You're going to need the following: - A PC or laptop - A stable internet connection - Some way to hear and send audio, such as speakers and a microphone - A Discord Account - A Roll20 Account Optional: - A webcam (it's more fun if we can see each other on Discord)
What I provide
It's a homebrew world, so I'm well immersed in the story! I've run it a couple of times before. Of course, you'll stump me with your creative play style at times. I give a best effort to give my NPCs unique backstories, and their own voices! I'm still learning to do voices though. We're playing in a combination of Roll20 and Theater of the Mind. I've created maps for the most important locations. We'll communicate using Discord.
Gameplay details
I use the RPG Safety Tools plugin on Roll20. This is a combination of the X card and Lines and Veils safety tools. These are all digital. Before the session I send out the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist to you, for you to fill in and return to me at least 1 day before the first session. The first 30 minutes or so of the first session I'll go over these safety tools, and other important story elements.

How will character creation work
The campaign is going to be at level 3, using the character creation rules in the (old) PHB (from 2014). Things to take into account: - We're going to use Roll20 character sheets. - Point-Buy 27 characters. - You can pick any class and race from the PHB 2014, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and Xanathar's Guide to Everything. - Multiclassing is allowed
