Valley of the Tieflings (2024 Rules)
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
What sinister force has made every child born in one valley manifest as hell-spawn Tieflings? Dare you approach this secluded region in search of the truth, regardless of what horrors you might unleash? - Explore the secrets of ancient ruins. - Face a conspiracy of infernal cultists. - Battle diabolical foes from the nether realms. - Discover the secrets of the Valley of the Tieflings! Thirteen years ago, a single Tiefling child was born in the valley, now every child born there is one. A coalition of temples has demanded that the Crown do something - and that something is you... As a specialist in the service of the Royal Theosophical Office of Investigations, you are charged with investigating the Valley and getting to the bottom of this mystery before the problem can spread to engulf the entire Kingdom!

I was looking for a new game after my current game abruptly ended. I found Ben's games on SPG, but I wasn't too sold on the writeup. I reached out to Ben who answered that day with some more information for me. I told him I was uncertain about committing to another game and wanted to keep looking around to make sure it was a good fit for me, as I've had some rough times finding good games since things went online. Ben let me into his discord to just look around and give me more perspective on the groups of people that could be involved (players are just as important as your GM). This went a long way towards helping me feel comfortable pulling the trigger to play in one of his games, and I'm still in it a few months later. Ben's games are a little pricey. You get what you pay for sometimes. I have both praise and critique for our particular game, in that its a blank slate waiting to grow. There's not too much established yet, and that's new to me, but the idea that I can influence what we choose to do and grow out other areas based on my input is exciting. In some ways its up to me to flesh things out, I like that collaborative experience from my own experience as a GM, and can appreciate that Ben allows this and encourages this.

Gameplay details
Some aspects of this game may touch on themes of 'othering' and prejudice experienced by people of mixed heritage, radicalisation and child abandonment, however, these issues will be handled sensitively and will be discussed in Session 0 for boundaries and where on the Veil -> Line spectrum they belong. A full and open Session 0, Lines and Veils checklist and X cards will all be available, and while our enemies in the game may be horrible, we are not! This table will be a safe space for all. No TRASH at the table. (Transphobia, Racism, Ableism, Sexism, Homophobia).

How will character creation work
In a perfect world, we can all do character creation in Session 0! Character creation can be done prior to play if you join after Session 0. Please use the Standard Array or Point Buy methods - equally, there will be some pre-generated characters available for novice players or late joiners. Please stick to Dwarves, Elves, Humans, Halflings, Gnomes, Goliath, Tiefling, Half-Elf, or Half-Orc if self-creating a character. If you have other ideas that you REALLY want to try, I'm open to ideas, but please discuss them with me first! Official content only, no Dragon Marks, Silvery Barbs, Simic Hybrids, Spelljammer Ancestries, or homebrew. Official classes too, no Bloodhunters. If you have Counterspell, so will the adversaries...
