I've had the pleasure of playing in rdngshotgn's games offline for years, as well as playing alongside him as a player. We have had plenty of misadventures together, and I'll happily recommend him to others - especially if you're the type of player that likes to dig into the rules, trivia, and details of the game.
We are currently playing a Tomb of Annihilation campaign, but we've previously also played a his homebrew setting. He likes to make and playtest new mechanics out in the open and with everyone on board, and always keeps things fresh, with a good balance between crunchy playstyles and rule-of-cooling it. Always stoked when I get an invite to his games.

If you need help building your character then we can talk about it in the discord and I'd be happy to help you put it together! If you're joining an ongoing game, then the starting level may be higher than 3. Please check with me in our discord to confirm.
What RdngShotgn brings to the table
I'm the kind of GM that tries to give every NPC their own unique voice whether they are the main quest giver or just a lowly henchman or thug. My Rule of Cool usually says, "Let's try it that way and we'll find out if it's too broken later". That way you can always do something at least once whether it's in the rulebook or super unbalanced or anything like that. My main balancing metrics are: 1) Is it fun for the whole party (or only one)? 2) Does it lead to the kinds of moments that people will remember and excitedly share with their friends? I'm also the kind of GM that likes to create encounters with weird mechanics to surprise and excite my players. Maybe a hoard of zombies has one bigger zombie that throws the smaller ones around, maybe the floor is lava, but usually my players find new and interesting ways to surprise me right back!
Homebrew rules
(Optional) Permadeath, if we decide to follow rules as written for the Module at least. We have options if that's too spicy. Drinking a health potion yourself is a bonus action, drinking a different potion is an action, feeding a potion to another character is an action. Swan song mechanics: Whenever a PC dies (As in fails their last saving throw), the player gets to take one final action with a few restrictions. 1) The action is guaranteed to succeed, 2) It can not be used to save yourself, 3) The results of that successful action may be more extreme than normal. Hired NPC guides do not need to make survival checks to navigate the map.

How RdngShotgn creates a safe table
First we have an anonymized google form to fill out for every campaign. The form explains in more detail but if anyone in the campaign marks something they are uncomfortable with then everyone must respect that even if everyone else is comfortable with that topic. We use the RPG safety toolkit on Roll20 which is demonstrated before everyone's first session. These provide an anonymous way for everyone to communicate topics that come up during play that either weren't on the form, or that someone misjudged their comfort level. The "X" card means we will take a 5 minute break before we return. This is for if someone wants time to calm themselves for a moment before deciding how to proceed. The "Pause" card means we all break character and discuss either using cards or dialogue how best to proceed. (The "Pause" card is most often used for but not limited to technical issues) Other cards in the deck can be used in response to questions I as to provide anonymous answers in the moment. Stars and wishes are a great way for my players to communicate their feelings after the fact. They are part of how I grow as a DM and help everyone get the best experience at my table possible.
