About the adventure

The year is 1996, the Cold War is over, new technologies are reshaping daily life, all is right with the world, until... The best way to describe Torg is to say that it is "a cinematic, multi-genre, pan-dimensional apocalypse". That's a mouthful, but it paints a clear picture, doesn't it? Alternate realities have invaded a 1990's Bruce Willis action movie version of Earth. Each of the invading realities corresponds to a different form of speculative fiction: -a high fantasy/Tolkien realm -a cyberpunk realm -a 1930's pulp comic book realm -a mega-corporate dystopian near-future realm -a Land of the Lost/prehistoric realm -a Lovecraftian horror realm. In Torg, PCs are called Storm Knights. They can come from any of the realms, or even be a "Core Earther". Together, they have devoted themselves to the fight to save Earth from the invading realities.

About me

Hey all! I am a school social worker by trade, and I run D&D 5E for the kids in the framework of group therapy and social skills development. However, my preference really lies in more old-school, crunchy games such as 1st Ed. 7th Sea, Torg, and D&D 3.5. I am a firm believer that elaborate rules don't necessarily have to interrupt a good story, as long as the GM is good at navigating them. If you are interested in any of these systems, please reach out: as I get my feet wet, my rates will be very competitive. I have been playing D&D and other RPG's since the age of nine, so given that I am old (AF), I bring over 30 years of experience and hundreds of games run as GM. I've been using Roll20 since 2013, and have over 10,000 hours of employing just about all the bells and whistles it has to offer.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation in Torg can be very simple or slightly more involved, depending on what you want to play. Templates are available in Roll20, but unique characters can be built completely from scratch. Pretty much any action hero, from any genre can be built in Torg. It will all be covered during session 0, or free individual follow-up sessions between sessions 0 and 1.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A mic and a Roll20 account are a necessity, webcams optional. That is all.

What Jon brings to the table

I'll admit, I struggle with voices and accents, however I am very experienced with this particular game, and have run it on Roll20 many times. I have a pro level Roll20 account, and I am very accomplished with using the platform to its fullest potential, including: music, custom maps, custom character sheets, tokens, handouts. All of the game's sourcebooks will be available in electronic format. I also bring in real world elements from the internet (wikipedia is my sourcebook), including: -a dedicated Google Earth map, chronicalling the adventures and street view images of real-world locales. -detailed interludes between adventures with a blend of fictional and non-fictional world events. -a currated soundtrack to give each realm a unique feel and flavor.

Safety

How Jon creates a safe table

A confidential questionnaire will be provided to all players. I usually use open-ended questions rather than a checklist, where things can be missed. If you would rather use a checklist, by all means, I will provide a form with the Monte Cook model.
