About the adventure

Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft. Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires. The wind’s howling increases as he turns his gaze down toward the village of Barovia. Far below, yet not beyond his keen eyesight, a party of adventurers has just entered his domain. Strahd’s face forms the barest hint of a smile as his dark plan unfolds. He knew they were coming, and he knows why they came—all according to his plan. A lightning flash rips through the darkness, but Strahd is gone. Only the howling of the wind fills the midnight air. The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner. And you are invited...

About me

Salutations and roll for Initiative! I have been playing D&D 5e since Curse of Strahd came out and haven't stopped. Four years ago I became a professional DM and started my own online server and have been running my pay to play games ever since. I'm a fan of rule of cool, enjoy spending my freetime finding new battlemaps and writing up side quests for my players, I also enjoy applying music to help set the theme and use Kenku FM for music and sfx. The one thing I don't do is coddle me players, I keep the stakes high and PC death is a real possibility, so if your looking for a challenge and don't want your DM to hand hold you through encounters then I'm your DM. If you want to hear from my players you're more then welcome to speak with them too!

Character creation

Creating your character

The players have recently reached Level 18 and we will be going to Level 20 finishing Curse of Strahd and then branching into the Shadowfell to deal with the "real" threat. New players start at same level as the party and can grab 2 Uncommon and 1 Rare magic item along with 500 gp to spend on anything but magic items. Stats are done by rolling 4d6 or taking Standard Array if you roll poorly in Roll20, hitdice are also rolled but if you roll lower then half +1 on the die then you take that instead. Anything published by WotC is allowed for character creation.

The current party

Join us in a dark and immersive Curse of Strahd campaign where intrigue, horror, and mystery await! This game is suitable for players who enjoy a balance of combat, exploration, and roleplay. Seasoned adventurers who have played for a bit are preffered as we are currently at Level 18, but if you think you can manage the high level then you are welcome to join! Sessions will be 4 hours long, held weekly on Roll20 with voice chat on Discord. New characters will start at level 18, and we'll use content from officially published sourcebooks, I also have some homebrew availible. A free session zero will be held with new players to discuss character creation, catch up on the story and answer any questions you might have. Prepare to brave the mists of Barovia, confront the terrors that lurk within, and unravel the mysteries of the vampire lord Strahd von Zarovich. Are you ready to face the darkness?

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need a mic and headset for audio purposes. In addition, you will need to setup free accounts on Roll20 and Discord. It's recommended that your understand the basics of D&D 5e and read the player info for the setting not only for lore on the world but also additional character creation options.

What DM Deadman brings to the table

I have a paid Roll20 account so all the benefits of a Pro subscription using their API features. I have a subscription to CzePeku and Neutral Party battlemaps, Kenku FM for music & sfx, Discord for voice and community with other players in my games. For myself I am a tough but fair GM, I like to run challenging encounters that has a risk of PC death. I like to keep the rules light and approve of improv and thinking outside the box ideas. I enjoy doing character voices, creating boss mechanics and side quest activities.
