About the adventure
Saddle up, cadets! It’s time to explore beyond the realm of Toril and see the greater universe at large. Spelljamming is the only true way to sail the Flow of Wildspace, and you’re invited! Climb aboard strange and mystical ships and vessels, learn the ins and outs of being a crew, and struggle against pirates, ravenous sentient meteors, and a plethora of mind-bending monstrosities waiting to take a bite out of you. Spelljammer Academy is one of the best ways to learn of one of Dungeons and Dragon’s most cherished rulesets, all updated and upgraded to 5th edition! Play as strange ooze like creatures, autonomous gnomes, and more as you work with your companions and crew to explore the outer reaches of space itself. In this adventure, expect: • Your adventurer will begin at level 1, and save the world at level 8; space is big however, and adventures can continue well beyond! • First learn the ins and outs of Spelljamming 101, create a bond with your crewmates, and then segue into Light of Xaryxis for a high-stakes escapade! • Explore the outer reaches of space, see fantastical planets and asteroids and moons, and discover that a mind-flayer can sit at the same table with a beholder and enjoy each other’s company. It’s not called WIldspace for nothing! • Complex and exciting combats featuring hand-crafted custom maps, named rivals and foes to learn to love to hate, and more!

Meet the Game Master
About me
• Hello and welcome! I’m Robert, but everyone calls me Riko. It’s great to have you here, and I’d like to go over a bit of who I am and what you can expect from me as a Dungeon Master. To note, I am a CST time zone Dungeon Master, and am available typically from 12 PM CST to 8 PM CST, but I often make time for my players when need be! • Who is Riko? I’ve been running D&D games professionally for about four years, and have been a DM for the past decade now, since 5th edition of D&D released and a bit before with 3.5 edition. Ever since I learned there was a game you could be a powerful necromancer, master of armies and magister supreme, I’ve had a love for the game on a personal level, and once learning of all the stories you can tell with D&D, I fell in love with all of it as a whole. I run modules of 5th edition professionally, but each one of them is heavily changed with enough spice that it feels like a whole new meal to sink your teeth into. Having run adventures from first to twentieth level, I consider myself well informed on the balance and concepts of D&D from head to toe! My adventures are typically high fantasy and with some adventures dark horror, but I find the darkest places are where lights shine brightest, a theme that always holds a place in my heart as a DM. Personally, my favorite part of D&D is our collaborative storytelling. Each character you bring to my table has some fate to unfold, for better or worse, and it’s my job to make sure we get there together! I bring the verisimilitude, and you bring the excitement. Laughing and going over the details of what dangers and excitement we encounter together is what I love most about D&D, and it’s hard to pick a most favorite part! I want to bring you into the worlds and live in them for the time I have you, and get lost somewhere along the way in it all. • What to expect? - Access to most sourcebooks of D&D available on roll20, as well as tools to create exactly the kind of character you’re hoping to bring to life. - Introductory lessons on how to build characters, and tailored pacing of adventuring to ensure maximum chances of success. - Custom made maps designed through Dungeondraft and Inkarnate, to bring the various world crafted to life. - A welcoming space for new players, and for veterans, to co-mingle and take on the challenges of Wizards of the Coast, including hours of expanded, homebrew content to enhance every experience. Players ask me why I do what I do, and I have one simple answer: I love Dungeons and Dragons. I genuinely hope to have you at my tables, and to share that dedication and love I have for the game for a long time to come!

Creating your character
Adventurers will begin this adventure at level 1, but if you’re joining us later on, you’ll make a character fitting of the level of the rest of the party: no adventurers left behind! Expect point buy, or standard array, for stat distribution, and basic equipment to start. Space has all sorts of rewards for those who seek it, so join in with a space-faring swashbuckler’s mentality! Villainous adventurers are not recommended, as the Flow requires teamwork and strength of compassion and will, though expect grey areas as morals and goals are questioned throughout the adventure. Stats will be generated through either Point Buy or Standard Array, and will not be rolled for this adventure. Details of your character and the role they will fill are expected to be fleshed out during Session 0, and any adventurers joining on beyond the game start will be helped from beginning to end to craft their characters as well.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Adventurers will be expected to provide the following: • A microphone of standard quality and a free Discord account used to join the group as well as speak to your fellow adventurers. • A webcam is not required, but his highly recommended. There are no expectations to have, or use, a webcam in any capacity at this venture. • A free roll20 account, where the game is hosted entirely. • Headphones are recommended for the best experience to hear your fellow adventurers and DM clearly. • All adventurers are requested to have read a cursory look through the Players Handbook for 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons, but it is not a requirement.
What Riko brings to the table
Expect to see the following and more on your space-faring adventure: • Customized, hand-crafted maps created through Inkarnate and Dungeondraft, using the Forgotten Adventures supplements for map creation. • Curated music played through roll20's music service, to immerse and engage adventurers on a sci-fi, magical adventure. • Almost all player-supported source books in roll20 to allow your character to be created through roll20's Charactermancer. • Discounts on character portraits through supported artists part of the community! • Roll20's dynamic lighting, allowing for deep delves of enemy ships, and forgotten asteroids in the Flow.

Starting right from Spelljammer Academy, you’ll feel yourself learning D&D as well as nuanced gameplay within the first session. • Ever wanted to see what lies above and beyond the stars, and what true, uncontrolled freedom feels? To know that any light you see can be your home, as long as you’ve the strength to get there? Welcome aboard! • Want to feel your actions have impact and weight? Every word, every movement can change the course of the adventure for better or worse; if you want to feel the weight of heroism and exploration, you’ll find it here! • Teamwork makes the dream work, and you’ll be hard pressed to find it better than when a giant space crab is bearing down upon you. Join your comrades in arms to save your homeland from total destruction! Beyond these, expect to be welcomed into a safe and inclusive environment. Mental health is a high priority for this table and game, and breaks for health, stepping away, and open discussions about topics will be heavily discussed and permitted with ease. Feel free to provide X cards and any limits to descriptions, enemy types, and concepts that are present in spacefaring adventures, and your DM will strive to write in healthy alternatives to keep the game flowing!
