About the adventure
This is a beginner-friendly short-to-ongoing campaign for the Mothership RPG, where you are part of the Research and Acquisitions Department of the University of Idalia Minor. For your first assignment, your crew has been dispatched to assist the Sharpe Mining Corporation on planet S-4813. Strange things have been happening since the mine was shut down by an uprising, and it's up to you to solve the mystery and recover a mysterious anomaly that is said to grant strange abilities. Will you go in guns blazing? Will you talk it out with the cultists? The approach is up to you, as long as the anomaly makes it out in your hands! If that happens, the University of Idalia Minor will be granted research rights, and you will be rewarded. Be warned, however, the Sharpe Mining Co will not be patient forever, and is fully prepared to write off the mine - and everyone planet-side - if you do not succeed. In this beginner-friendly campaign, you can expect thrills and chills in Mothership's sci-fi horror setting, where stress is NOT your friend but can make for some wickedly fun dice rolls and consequences! Life is fragile in Mothership, so don't get too attached to your characters, but we'll make sure you get right back in game as quickly as possible in the likely event of your character's demise.

How to prepare
You will need the following: -A Discord account to access the server, along with a headphones or earbuds, and a working microphone -Camera is optional -Access to the free Mothership 1E rules. You can download the Player's Survival Guide (Pay what you want) here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/484222/mothership-player-s-survival-guide . Tuesday Knight Games, the creators of Mothership, are a small, independent company, so I'm sure they would appreciate any monetary support you are able to provide. -I highly recommend downloading the free Mothership Companion App. The app walks you step-by-step through character creation, and I'll be using the virtual tabletop feature built into it for our session. The VTT integrates your character sheet and an automated dice roller....and it's free to download and use! You can get the app on android, IOS or Mac.

-Years of experience running Mothership in an online setting -A desire to teach those new to Mothership or TTRPGs in general -A private Discord server for chat, voice and video (only if you're comfortable), with Kenku FM music bot to set atmosphere -Relational maps and visuals via the Mothership Companion App VTT and Discord screen share -Help with character creation before our session if need, just shoot me a message and ask!
Gameplay details
Session 0 - We’ll set our format and content expectations during a session zero, where we can all talk about it in an open forum. Luxton Technique - Before we start, I'll ask everyone if there are any triggers/subject matter that we need to avoid, and we can discuss it. If there is something in the story that may come into play here, now is the time to discuss it. X Cards - If you are on camera, you can have an index card or something similar to hold up to symbolize your X card. If you are not on camera, please let me know via chat of DM on Discord by typing "X", so we can take a quick pause from the game to work through any situations that may arise. Breaks and Open Door - If you need a de-stressing, snack/drink, stretching or bio break, no worries! Please feel free to step away at any time. I ask that you leave a quick chat note if possible, so the rest of the group is aware of your brief absence in case it may effect the story, so we can put a pin where we are until you return. On that note, if you feel something needs to be discussed, we an absolutely pause at any time to talk about it. End of Session Debrief - After we finish a session, I would like to take a few minutes to discuss what went well, and what I could have done better for you. I'll provide a quick google survey link as well. Nothing is off limits here, so if you need to talk to me about something, please fee free. If you'd rather speak privately, we can also do that.

How will character creation work
Character creation is very quick via the free Mothership Companion App, that will also allow you to see my hosted virtual tabletop. You can do this ahead of time, or we can work on it together during our session zero.
