Venture into the uncharted wilds of Northern Aterrizjea! Level 1
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
No one travels to the Northern Continent, except for the trading vessel you are currently on, and even that only goes to an island outpost. According to anyone with an opinion, it is a wasteland. Don’t worry, rumors of wild magic, monstrosities and remnants of the mages who ruined the continent with their war are all just bedtime stories meant to scare kids straight. Surely if monsters and dragons existed, you’d have already seen one! How bad could it really be? The trading vessel will remain in the island port for 2 weeks – plenty of time to do a little sightseeing. Maybe find some of those black diamonds the island is famous for or even battle a fearsome creature (if there even are any). When it turns out to be as boring as your home village, just get back on the ship before it leaves. It’s that easy! Remember though, if you miss the ship, you’ll be stuck in the Northern Continent for a whole year. No biggie. Nothing's going on back home anyway. This adventure starts at level 1, is perfect for beginners and will go as far as you want to take it. This world is full of things to find, beautiful, wild scenery, and fantastical creatures. The Northern Continent is completely uncharted, so should you choose to adventure here, you may get to name the areas you uncover, the beasts you might discover, and claim any riches you will find. You could be the first adventurer to return victorious to your boring old village! Well, I mean, as long as you don’t die in the process. All that being said, most sessions are a light-hearted exploration of a forgotten continent full of beings your character has never before seen. There are, however, big things happening in this world if you chose to follow those threads. Free Session Zero
Game style
Roleplay Heavy
“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.
Rule of Cool (RoC)
“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
Since this will be a bi-weekly campaign, I plan to run another group on the opposite schedule. This will specifically be Thu7:30A (Thursdays at 7:30pm, group A).

How to prepare
Before you begin playing, you’ll need to create the following accounts: ✅ D&D Beyond.com (free) ✅ Discord (free) ✅ Download the apps for both if you will be playing from your phone/tablet And then: ✅ Agree to my Rules ✅ Join the Discord Server Next, please read: ✅ The History of Aterrizjea (1.5 pages) ✅ The House Rules (1 page) ✅ My notes on character creation (1 page) ✅ The FAQ’s (1-ish pages) These are all available on the Discord Server. And finally: ✅ Fill in the Character Submission Form ✅ Create your character in D&D Beyond.com ✅ Join the D&D Beyond campaign with your character (the link is in the discord server) You will also need: ✅ a working microphone Recommended: ✅ A camera. It's really great when people keep their webcams on, though I’ll understand if you don’t want to. ✅ A notebook or other way to take notes for the session. You won't need dice - You'll roll right on D&D Beyond.
What I provide
📖 Access to my source books on D&D Beyond 🎟 A private Discord server just for your group 🦉 Owlbear Rodeo for combat. 🗺 Beautiful (sometimes animated) maps & tokens purchased thru Patreon 💝 Tailor-made magic items for you to find 🧜🏽 An open world informed by your character's background 🎤 Recorded audio for each session with a game recap attached. I mostly stick to the 5e rules, though I have embraced a few of the latest rules, especially spells. For everything else, there is the Rule of Cool. If you are a RAW-style player, you probably won’t enjoy my style. I’m not a voice actor, but I try my best to make each NPC have their own personality though their Irish accent will slowly devolve into a southern one almost every time. 🤠
Gameplay details
I try to ensure everyone is on the same page before we begin, but I still start with a session zero so that we can discuss the campaign and be on the same page about the type of game we are playing. Should you join the campaign after it has begun, we will have a 1-1 session zero before you begin playing. - I check in with each player privately every few games - I always stick around for about 10 minutes after each game so that we can debrief on the session, especially after something intense. - I address player conflicts head on and try to resolve them in a way that is best for the group. 🤺 There is no PVP unless you are controlled by a magical affect. 🚫 Please do not: - Create an evil character. - Eat humanoid creatures. - Harm/harass/bully/menace innocent townsfolk. - Steal unless your character has a purpose. - Cause large amounts of uncalled for damage and chaos in populated areas, e.g. blowing up a shop because the shopkeeper is annoying (NO), toppling a building on top of a monster (SURE) There will be consequences for “illegal behavior” (like stealing) if you get caught.

How will character creation work
1. Characters should be created before the first game - You will use a form to send me 3 character race/class choices (i.e. Minotaur Bard). I will send you information on where each of those characters would come from in the world and how your class fits. I encourage you to choose a “non-standard” species for this game (meaning other than human, elf, dwarf), but you are free to choose anything except a Construct/Warforged Race or Blood Hunter Class as they don't fit in this world. **** If all of that seems overwhelming, I have pre-made characters that you can use. Just let me know.**** 2. You'll create your Level 1 character in D&D Beyond. There is more information on character creation in the discord channel and I am happy to walk you through it if necessary. 3. While this is a 5E game, you may use 2014 5E or 2024 versions since the new version is very prevalent on D&D Beyond. Tasha’s Cauldron is a good source as well. If there is some other source you’d like to use, please contact me to make sure I have it.
