Honoring Stakes: Improv GM Improv Workshop for Players and GMs
Seminar | One-Shot
About the adventure
Looking to improve your skills as a player or a gamemaster? Improvisation is the best skill set you can have. These will be a series of zoom workshops that teach improvisational techniques and applies them to RPGs. These will be similar to the ones I run at GenCon, focusing on creating character personalities quickly, honoring stakes, and threading stories from player actions for GMs. Improv isn’t about being quick or clever---it’s about making a strong decision and following through on the consequences. It’s an ideal skill set for improving as both a player and GM. The workshop will begin with some basic exercises to teach character and scene approach. We will then go into the more advanced skills for each class.

What I provide
I've been doing improv since 1994 and was the found and director of Illinois State's Improv Mafia and Champaign's The Abe Froman Project. I've taught high school students and adults improv and ran workshops at GenCon, Illinois Theatrefest, and at schools. We'll be doing a series of exercises that range from preparing people for how to do improv to diving into specific skills that will aid you in your own games.
Gameplay details
The X card can be used by holding your arms together in an X during a scene. We'll also have a Lines and veils document we'll go over at the start of the workshop.
