About me
Got my start in RPGs shortly before WotC started sifting the ashes of TSR, and I've been running games and perfecting my craft ever since. I enjoy mature storytelling, character drama, puzzles, exploration, even tactical wargaming, so I include a mix of different styles in my games and I'm always learning new things. Huge 40k and Mass Effect nerd as well. Lefty LGBTQIA+ ally welcoming to everyone civil and tolerant, even if I often run settings that are nightmare dystopias (40k for example).

Creating your character
Using Dark Heresy 2 mechanics and importing from Rogue Trader where needed (like void combat), lots of homebrew, starting with 5k XP. Homebrew docs provided for session zero, as well as fleet roster and such. Players will be taking over a Rogue Trader dynasty with a dark past, having dozens of ships in their fleet but poor profit factor and the mystery of what happened to all of the previous scions.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord and Roll20 accounts, free are fine. Suitable mic and audio for voice chat, video optional. Prefer a computer that can run Roll20 with lots of special effects without choking. Familiarity with the 40k setting and Rogue Trader in particular. Willingness to be proactive, as Rogue Trader doesn't work as a reactive game - characters need to want to go out and make things happen, not just wait for the adventure to come to them.
What Daedalus Cain brings to the table
All of the FFG 40k books available, plus lots of homebrew to support all sorts of other things that aren't covered by the core rules. Lots of rule-of-cool, since 40k is a gonzo setting anyway, but I still try to play it straight rather than embracing the memes. I provide ambient music, intense tactical combat, complex political situations, mystery, character voices, growth and story arcs.

How Daedalus Cain creates a safe table
I keep an open door for anyone having issues to private message me or speak out-of-game without judgment, or to ping me privately during gameplay if things are getting too heavy. 40k is a deliberately grimdark setting, and I intend to stay with the same sort of flavour. I don't go out of my way to include triggering circumstances, but anyone familiar with 40k should already have a solid idea of what they're in for just from the source material. Outside of that, I'm an LGBTQIA+ ally, and have zero tolerance for the usual list of callous/hateful behaviours. We're all adults here, and if people can't abide by the simple social contract of mutual respect, then they won't have a place at my table.
