About the adventure
Do you love Critical Role? Have you ever wanted to set out on an adventure written by Matthew Mercer himself! This is your opportunity! Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep is a module created by Matthew Mercer in conjunction with Wizards of the Coast. Explore the lands of Wildemount, the wastes of Xhorhas, and even the deserts of Marquet in your grand adventure to understand what happened to one of the greatest champions of the gods. Yet.. the journey is not your own. Every step you take, your rivals seek to out pace you at every turn. Will you rise to the challenge? Can you discover the vestiges hidden away from prying eyes? Dare you answer the Call of the Netherdeep? Hey there! I'm Lake, a professional DM that's been working at this for over six years now. I've run a cavalcade of campaigns, including Curse of Strahd, Tyranny of Dragons, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, Tomb of Annihilation, a converted version of Pathfinder Kingmaker for D&D 5e, and homebrew on top of that. I consider myself an educator at the table, and love explaining how things work, so players can make the decision they feel is the best as any given moment. I am not what I refer to as a "gotcha" DM, I won't surprise you with a rule or a scenario that made you feel like you were unfairly tricked. If my players make a mistake, I want it to be after they've explored their options, gathered their facts, and made the decision themselves. My game comes as a voice acted experience. (I love putting voices on for everything.) From the domineering BBEG to the squeaky little goblin that you inevitably try to adopt. My game is run as fair is fair. That means the rules for the good guys are the same as the rules for the bad guys. Whether that's allowing rule of cool for a dramatic moment, or keeping the written word for the sake of consistency. I'm also a lover of the tragic hero concept. That the best way to know what a character is capable of is do horrible things to them and see how they come out the other side. Great story is driven by adversity. No, it doesn't mean I'll kill or main your character on a whim, but I will put horrifying creatures or terrifying situations in front of them to see how they tackle it. If you have any questions about me or my games, feel free to message me! I'm happy to field them.

About me
Hey there! I'm Lake. Back in 2019 I picked up Dungeons and Dragons as an outlet to try and share moments inside of a fantasy setting through narrative storytelling. Pretty much immediately I realized I loved telling the stories as much as I loved playing them. I realized I had a flair for taking the moments we love and pushing them harder, leaving my players with memorable impressions and a need for more.

Creating your character
Character creation is going to be done in session zero with a personal set of rules I use called the Talent System. That will be provided through Discord after the interview so players can overlook it.
Hey there! This campaign is currently moving along, and the party is level 7 of 12. The group composition is Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Druid (Circle of Stars), Warlock (Great Old One), and Sorcerer (Aberrant Mind). The party is currently in Ank'harel.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will require a Roll20 account, a Discord account, and a microphone of sufficient quality so that they can be understood. The microphone will be tested during the interview before the player is allowed to join the game.
What DM Lake brings to the table
I will provide everything that the players need at the table on Roll20. I have an expansive compendium of books that the player's will have full access too. This includes the module itself, maps for gameplay, compendiums for character creation, so on and so forth. If it's something that will have to be used in the game, I have it covered! The player will never be expected to foot the bill for that. (The only exception to this is talespire featured games, if players desire their own custom Heroforge model, they will have to pay for that.)
Homebrew rules
My homebrew rules can be found here. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hGAH0EsIa3NIryHBz-uUKlNPTXf1JsfMEEqfxQbmxY4/edit?tab=t.0

How DM Lake creates a safe table
For the safety of players, we will go over any potential sensitive topics in a session zero. On top of this, during a private sit down, any personal concerns a player may have can be brought up to ensure they don't come up during game.
