About the adventure

Gather round me, good people, and hear the tale of the Heroes of Theros! Listen to their deeds of strength and skill, and of undying faith in the Gods! Learn how they shaped the very land in pursuit of glory! I must warn you though, this tale is not for the faint of heart... Join this game for intermediate to experienced players set within the Greek Mythology inspired setting of Theros. Start as small-time adventurers who must deal with mortal problems and ascend to the heights of legends. As you act in accordance with or against your sworn Gods, they can bestow or retract Piety Points which provide special benefits. Worshippers of all the Gods have their place in the world, from the sun to slaughter. Champion the gods you want to, or none at all. In Theros, a great enough deed will make you a hero, regardless how good or evil your past is. Looking for a group of intermediate and above players interested in an open-ended exploration campaign. Experience requested because the setting has an extra "Piety" Score to track and because I want to take a more laid-back approach to DM'ing. Players are encouraged to look for the chance to bring glory and status to their characters on their own. I hope they will get the chance to search every corner of this interesting continent to become one with its culture. Learning about how the world works will help Players become true heroes of the Gods. Scheduling is prospective and may change with the consent of the party.

About me

I am a long time player and DM, looking to branch out from my normal circle of friends I have been playing with since college. D&D is one of my favorite ever pastimes and I want to join this awesome community to see how much I can improve and to meet new D&D fans. I started playing 4th edition in middle school and became obsessed with 5th edition in college. I have played all kinds of tabletop games and D&D editions since but I am most comfortable running D&D 5e. I am a relaxed, silly storyteller who wants to place you in a sandbox of creative freedom. While every story has its own best character choices, my favorite PC race is Dragonborn because I love their honor bound culture and variety. My favorite class is the Rogue because of their versatility and action economy. Qualities that I feel confident in: Improvisation, Tone, Vocals, Wit, Inclusivity Qualities I want to improve with this website: Character Arcs, Canon Lore, Balancing combat (I tend to be a bit softer than I plan to be), presentation/general VTT expertise.

Character creation

Creating your character

During session 0, we will go over what players want to create for their characters, and I can answer lore questions to help them weave those characters into the setting. I like to make tokens using ReRoll pixel art and can make art for any Players who want that. Players will be asked to use a "heroic" standard array that retains balance while giving players better than average stats befitting their hero status. Level 5 start, multiclassing allowed but I plan to only allow one subclass at a time, so it will be up to you to choose a main class.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Only Mics needed, but webcams are encouraged for out-of-game conversations and breaks. Roll20 Account is needed, and I will use custom art to create tokens if Players provide it.

What Gabe Corn Hunter brings to the table

I use Roll20 for the time being. I have a quality headset and desk microphone, so DM voice quality is guaranteed. Thanks to Roll20 I can provide limited BGM and ambient sound. I enjoy performing my characters but only as far as it entertains or enhances the story. If a character takes up too much time or is too hard to understand for a player I will switch the NPC's voice. I plan to stick closely to the content inside of "Mythic Odysseys of Theros". I do have some fun third party books with which I design villains and dungeons, but I will keep them a secret to avoid spoilers for anyone who has read them.

How Gabe Corn Hunter creates a safe table

Players can expect a free session zero as long as they sign up for their first session before the cut off time listed. Any players who miss this can get a free private/group call to go over X, N, and O's, as well as private messaging on this site to go over issues that are too personal. For players 13-17 parents are encouraged to sit in on this call or read PMs so that they can be involved in the discussion on safety and scheduling.
