About the adventure
“Perhaps my only real expertise, my only talent, is to endure beyond the endurable.” — Jeff VanDerMeer, ANNIHILATION (2014) For the quiet town of Otari, the most excitement any of its residents experience is on Founders’ Day — a five-hundred year celebration of when the adventuring party known as the Roseguard defeated the wicked cannibal Belcorra Haruvex. The witch’s death brought peace to a flourishing lumber town, and her memory is now relegated to nursery rhymes and old wives’ tales. Belcorra is dead, and all her wicked machinations forgotten. The oldest Founders’ Day tradition is its most important. What set the Roseguard apart from other adventuring parties was that they did not know each other; rather, they were thrown together at random out of necessity. Every year, a handful of residents receive the highest honor of all: a private harrow reading by a local diviner. There is some gravity that comes with this selection — an understanding that, should the worst come to fruition, you must stand ready to serve. But what are the odds of such horrors? The final card is turned. The reading is complete, and all the air has been sucked from the festival. Outside, a nauseating blue light bathes Otari in its sickening terror. Belcorra’s supposedly abandoned tower has come to life. Perhaps this was all an accident. Some ignorant fey or mindless vermin holed up in a decrepit, abandoned tower flicked on a light by accident. But if that were true, when why does the hair stand up on the back of your neck every time you cast your gaze towards the tower? Why do you have the awful sense that Gauntlight’s evil is not dead, but merely dormant? The red ribbon around your arm weighs like an albatross. You are fated heroes — best start acting like it. 🏯 Ten unique levels of beasts, traps, and tribulations! 🔧 Premium Foundry module published by Paizo 🗺️ Exclusive high-resolution art, battlemaps, tokens, and animations 🎭 Professional theatrical storytelling and a dedication to detail 🎶 Immersive audio, from rattling pipes to hymns of the dead 🖥️ All official game resources and technology to delve into the depths ⚔️ Beginner-friendly while still engaging more experienced pathfinders 🏳️🌈 Inclusive environment for all identities, in and out of game 🛎️ Weekly office hours for questions, concerns, and casual banter Abomination Vaults is a survival horror dungeon crawl Adventure Path for Pathfinder Second Edition. Player characters will advance from Level 1 to Level 11 as they descend the ruins of a wicked lighthouse, dodging the hideous monsters, deadly traps, and mysterious ghosts who advance the tower’s wicked machinations. Praised as the ultimate megadungeon and inspired by works like the SOUTHERN REACH trilogy, THE DESCENT, and AS ABOVE, SO BELOW, ask not for whom the Gauntlight glows — it glows for thee!

How MJ creates a safe table
The content warnings detailed below list items that are likely to appear in the game. This is not a complete list of sensitive content that might arise mid-session. Part of our Session 0 will involve discussing players’ comfort levels with potentially triggering topics, and the game can be altered to minimize or even avoid certain subject matter. Players who join mid-campaign should discuss these topics with the GM during weekly office hours. Certain themes are so central to the text that to remove them from the game would be to destroy the campaign’s fundamental premise. Belcorra and her apprentice practiced medical experimentation on their victims, and the fruits of their labor persist to this day. The living (and unliving) residents of the vaults include vermin, cannibals, and fiends, and several inhabiting groups display prejudice against other residents. Additionally, all Pathfinder games carry the risk of character death — I don’t pull my punches, but I am amenable to alternative consequences. Tabletop role-playing games are meant to be an escape from the horrors of the real world, and as a queer woman, I pride myself on making my tables a safe and inclusive environment for all. Above-table prejudices such as racism, misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia are unacceptable at my table and will lead to your immediate removal from a session without refund, as well as a ban from all present and future tables hosted by this GM.
