About the adventure

In far north the cold is biting, the nights are long, and wildlife savage. Even if you survive all that, you might be selected for the town's sacrifice to appease Auril. If you're anything less than tough as nails, you won't stand a chance. - Uncover millennia old secrets buried in the snow as you travel through the Ten-towns and beyond. - Survive the trek as you fend off starved wildlife and the local Reghed Barbarians. - And if you're lucky, maybe you'll catch a Knucklehead Trout. Just don't be a knucklehead and fall in the freezing water.

About me

Heyo Peeps! Ever since I got my grubby little paws on The Player's Handbook back in 2017 I knew that D&D was in my veins. After a harrowing few years of battling my way through a gauntlet of D&D DM horror story scenarios, I decided it's time to take matters into my own hands and run the game myself. I've never looked back and have been running multiple weekly D&D games since 2019 and been a professional Dungeon Master since 2020.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be making our characters during the first session(session 0) and working on them afterwards so that they'll be ready for the second session. - Stats: Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) distributed as you see fit or rolled (4d6 remove the lowest). - For races and classes, anything from the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. (If there's a class or race that isn't in these books, ask me first and I'll let you know) - I'll also give you a list of questions to help fill out your character.

The current party

As this game consists of 3 veteran players who are looking to expand their adventuring group, any new signups will be on a trial basis to see if we all gel together.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Accounts/Apps: Roll20 profile (the free one is perfect) Discord profile Hardware: Besides the essentials(PC/laptop, mouse keyboard, etc.) of being able to use Roll20 and Discord there is your mic/audio. - You will need a microphone and headphones/earphones. - If you don't have headphones/earphones you will need to use Discord's Push to Talk feature as the feedback from speakers can be annoying. A webcam is not mandatory.

What Tabaxi (Mike) brings to the table

My main goal is to make your character feel like an Epic Hero. - I keep combat quick and fast paced. Sitting for 10 years to get to your turn? No Thank You! - Roleplaying is in the name. I'll do my best to provide a variety of characters to love or love to hate. - Although I'm no voice actor, "I do the voices." - In regards to puzzles, sometimes and only if fits into the game. (I prefer doing Sudoku or crossword on my own.) - I provide some music during the session to add some ambience. - I generally stick to rules as written as this keeps the game fair and balanced, but I have some homebrew rules and love to flirt with the Rule of Cool, especially if it'll result in an epic moment. I use Roll20 as my VTT. Roll20's campaign modules provide some lovely battlemaps and handouts. On top of that, I provide some custom battlemaps to fill in any gaps. I have a small Discord server which we will use for communication. There you will also find some other players to chat to and share the occasional D&D/fantasy related funny.

Safety

How Tabaxi (Mike) creates a safe table

Having a safe game is super important because a safe game is a fun game. In session zero we will spend time going over the content that we are all ok with having in the game and which subjects we absolutely do not want to see. This allows us to avoid any subjects that might make anyone (players and DM) feel uncomfortable. Futhermore, if for any reason during the game something comes up and makes a player feel uncomfortable, the player can immediately let me know and we'll take a break. As an example of one of my boundaries, I do not want sexual content in my games. SA does not exist in my games and is never alluded to. If a character wishes to romance another character we "fade to black." I also encourage open and honest feedback. Every 2-3 sessions I have a stars and wishes section in which we can discuss what we would like to see more of in the campaign and anything that can be improved or proved bothersome. Openly discussing thoughts and expectations is the key, I think, to a healthy and fun ttrpg experience.
