About the adventure
Strange occurrences are plenty in the town of Phandalin, and it's up to you and your party members to uncover their origins! Be sure to strap on your adventuring boots. Between gangs of ruffians, ancient treasure maps, and well kept secrets, you're definitely going to need them. Phandelver in a Flash is an 8-10 session adaptation of the official module "Lost Mines of Phandelver." This will allow people to discover the game through a short arc without being required to commit to a long term story. This game is open to those of all ability levels! Whether this is your first time playing D&D or you're a veteran of the hobby, I'm happy to provide whatever support is needed for you to have fun. I do tend to run roleplay focused tables, so if you're the type of player that prefers to go no more than a session or two without combat this may not be the table for you.
Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello everyone! My name is Emma, and I'm a forever GM of many years who loves to tell meaningful stories with whoever sits at my table! TTRPGs first made an appearance in my life in 2015 when a neighbor invited me to try out Dungeons and Dragons through our high school's gaming club. While half of my first session was spent creating my first ever character, the excitement at the table was infectious. Before long I was hooked, and within two years I was DMing games of my own! Fast forward to today: I am the Founder and Creative Director of the Tabletop Talespinners Network, a TTRPG podcast network whose mission is featuring diverse GMs and players at our tables. I DM two D&D 5e podcasts for the network, and have appeared on multiple livestreams as a GM and player in a multitude of TTRPG systems. Now, I'm hoping to bring that expertise to running games for you! Safety, inclusivity, and fun are my top priorities in any game I run. My tables are always BIMPOC and LGBTQ+ friendly, and players are expected to treat each other with kindness and respect. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and/or body shaming will not be tolerated at the table in or out of game. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you at a table of mine soon!

Creating your character
Character creation will take place before session zero, with assistance via discord text chat or voice call depending on player preference. I am a proponent of players using the tools that make them the most comfortable, whether that be a physical character sheet, D&D Beyond, or a different tool to house their character sheet. While I own some of the physical books that I am able to reference for you, my library of content on Roll20 is still fairly small. If there is a race or class you want to play that you don't own the content for, I can provide information on customizing your character sheet in Roll20 so that you do not need to own the content in order to utilize it for our game. Characters will start at level 1, with stats determined by rolling 4d6 for each stat and dropping the lowest number. Content from all official sourcebooks will automatically be approved. Any homebrew or third party content (including Unearthed Arcana) requires my permission for use, and will be approved, denied, or modified on a case by case basis.
This game is set for a session zero on September 29th, or whenever we reach the minimum player count. Any time in between will be used to create characters and discuss backstory ideas! We will be sticking to the 2014 ruleset for 5e in this game. Confirmed classes from other players are as follows, but do not limit yourself to what isn't already being played at the table if you have a strong character concept in mind: - Wizard - Druid - Rogue - Barbarian x2
What to expect
Preparing for the session
In order to play, you will need to have a Discord account set up so that you may join my gaming server. This is where all games will be hosted. All games I run are via voice chat in the Discord server. A microphone with which you can be clearly heard is required. I will be on camera as the GM, but having your camera on as a player is optional. The VTT we will be using is Roll20. Regardless of whether or not you create your character there, please have an account set up prior to our first session so that you can access the maps for combat.
What Emma brings to the table
As a GM, I bring to the table 8 years of experience alongside 4 years of acting training. I love creating unique and recognizable voices for all NPCs, whether they appear once or return throughout the campaign. My games are heavily focused on roleplay and integrating your character's backstory into the game. Every player and character deserves to have their moment to shine, and I really enjoy allowing players the freedom to do so whether they're playing a homebrew game or pre-written module. I am primarily a Rule of Cool GM. If there is something you want to do that would enhance the story being told, I will do everything I can to find a way to make it work within the game. If what you're initially asking for is a little too overpowered for me to allow it, I will work with you to find an alternative solution so that your creativity can still be rewarded.
Homebrew rules
My homebrew rules for every D&D 5e campaign are as follows: • For crits, roll double the dice and reroll 1s • Any death saves will be rolled privately to me • Potions are a bonus action to drink. For healing potions, you can choose to take a full action to drink the potion and gain max healing. Administering it to someone else is an action. • Will gladly consider additional homebrew rules as needed/requested

How Emma creates a safe table
A google spreadsheet consent form will be provided for players to fill out prior to session zero. While the original Lost Mines of Phandelver may contain topics not suitable for all at the table, I will be modifying the module to suit the preferences of my players. During session zero, we will go over all safety tools being used and how they will be implemented during the campaign as well as any homebrew rules, additional preferences, and/or character creation questions.
