About the adventure
NOTE: This campaign has been running for a long time. While we are looking forward to bringing someone new aboard, expect to be more or less dropped directly in to whatever the party happens to be doing at the time. Domhein, the world in which this game will be set, is based heavily on the mythology of the British Isles. This means that it's big on classical Faerie Tale magic with reality bending creatures that have strangely specific rules governing them. Currently, as of early June, the party is on a globetrotting adventure seeking relics tied to ancient sources of magic in order to defeat a fey pirate that they had accidentally made *significantly* more dangerous than he otherwise would have been. So far they've collected 2 of the 8 they require, and are nearing a 3rd, as their limited time slowly ticks away. They could probably use your help! If that sounds interesting, join up or shoot me a message and we can discuss further! I look forward to crafting our story together.

About me
Howdy! My name is Nick and I've been rolling dice nearly as long as I could read, so I feel like I can say with confidence that Tabletop RPGs can be some of the most fun experiences to be had with your friends, or to make new ones! I've been running games professionally for about 2.5 years now, but I've also Hosted a podcast, Ran an annual charity drive that has raised over $25000 in its lifetime, and even appeared as a guest on Dragon Talk (Feb 18th 2020) so I can definitely keep up with the folks who have been doing this a bit longer. Outside of D&D, I would love to explore the space of other systems. I've run successful games of Pokemon Tabletop Adventure and Vampire the Masquerade, and dabbled with an assortment of Powered by the Apocalypse games before. If you want to try something new together, I'm more than happy to take a crack at it! If you have an idea, a question, or would like to be provided examples of my GMing style, please contact me through the site and I'll get back to you ASAP. I hope we can tell some memorable stories together!

Creating your character
We'll be building characters at the table, so you don't need to do any prep work on that axis. I generally allow any official Wizards of the Coast material other than the Lucky feat and the Silvery Barbs spell when creating characters (If that doesn't mean anything to you, you don't have to worry about it). My rule of thumb is that if everyone in the party is onboard for something being legal, it's not the Dungeon Master's role to stop them. Our party will be starting at level 3 and will also receive a bit of extra power based on your chosen Lineage to help fit in and keep up with the High Magic setting.
Please note the current session number! We're happy to have a new person on board, but this is not a new campaign. We play weekly on Thursdays.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please make sure Zoom is installed on your computer and working properly. Also please make sure you have a working microphone and webcam, as well as a reasonably quiet place to play. We'll be playing on Roll20 so if you want to take the initiative to set up an account there in advance go ahead, but I'll be getting everyone the campaign link during Session 0 and can address using the platform then too.
What NickTheDM brings to the table
This world is one I've made from scratch, so I will provide a level of immersion and familiarity that might be more difficult with an out of the box setting. This also means that the world is more flexible to fit how you imagine your characters. If you wish to use DnD Beyond, I will get you a link to our campaign there which will let you use all the books I have for reference and character building. I also have a founder subscription to Roll20 so that brings access to all the bells and whistles of the platform. But most importantly I bring 20+ years of experience behind the GM screen, and a passion for helping you tell your own stories.

How NickTheDM creates a safe table
This game is very flexible to its players, so we'll spend Session 0 building characters and discussing what aspects of the setting you want to avoid or lean into. If we have any new players, this is also when they would be shown the ropes. The Content warnings listed here are what I expect will come up in a normal game set in this world, but depending on our early discussions certain things can be omitted or unlisted content may be explored. I also have a homebrew system to help discuss what we did and didn't like in a session, and get a little in-game reward for Roleplaying well or making a memorable moment.
