About the adventure
Will it Be Your Headstone? Wild wind hisses through frosty sagebrush. Knife-sharp clouds cross a blazing white moon. In the quaking aspens that fringe the foothills, a shivering clatter draws the traveler with its siren song. Danger is everywhere, even in plain view. Welcome to Wyoming Territory, amigo! It’s a place of wonder and beauty, but it ain’t for the faint of heart. Horror at Headstone Hill is a sandbox campaign setting, fully detailing this small section of the Weird West. As the heroes unravel the main campaign storyline they’ll find themselves drawn into all manner of exciting adventures in and around Uinta County, Wyoming.
This aint your grand-dad's Deadlands. 🌱—Beginner friendly: you don't need to know any of the rules to this game to show up and have a blast role playing on your very first night. You will learn to play the very best way, by playing and having fun. 🕵️—Lots of Mystery: if you like mystery and feel there isn't enough thinking in most RPGs, you'll be happily surprised by this game. 👻—Frightening Situations: Explore the paranormal activities! Save the townies from high water and damnation! 🏆—In-game Achievements: Celebrate your in-game milestones with fun personal and group achievements. 🧑🤝🧑—Inclusive: this game is fun for all people regardless of gender, ethnicity, or orientation. 🏋🏽—Growing Challenges: The game starts out simple and totally accessible to new players, but as you and your character gain experience you'll find yourself as challenged as your character is as you'll need to master new techniques and strategies to keep up with evolving threats in the late game.

How to prepare
You will need either a PC or Mac-compatible PC with broadband internet access and electricity to play in this game; a mouse with left and right buttons, as well as a third button and mouse wheel is optimal for online use of Foundry VTT. You will need a Discord account to access the game chat. The Foundry VTT runs on a modern web browser, so there is nothing to install if you have a browser on your computer. If you have an older computer, you might consider using the Foundry Lightweight Client, which is a free lightweight web browser that gives you the most bang for your machine's capabilities. You can get it for free here: https://flc.ruleplaying.com/ If you intend to speak in the voice channel on Discord, you should have a headset with a microphone. *You will be required to set up a push-to-talk button*; you are, however, free to communicate to the group using text only in Discord, but you will then need speakers to hear their chat and the game sounds. Special text-only sessions are available for the deaf and hard of hearing. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you'd like to schedule one. Bringing a friend or two would help ensure we don't need to recruit additional players. While text-only is actually my preferred method of play, it does seem difficult to organize those games. Instructions for setting up the push-to-talk button and installing all the needed software are available on my Discord channel (#getting-started), to which you will be supplied a link when you join. You could read the quick start rules to Savage Worlds Adventurers Edition (SWADE) if you like, but, the system is quick and intuitive, so you’ll have the opportunity to learn through playing the game if you like that better than reading books.

Gameplay details
This game will play like a MA-TV western movie, there will be violence, danger, and exploration of adult and super natural themes, but none to a degree that would make a person who consumes such entertainment regularly uncomfortable. Please re-read the content warnings as those topics will appear in the campaign at one time or another and if any of them are a red-line for you, this campaign is probably not a good fit. No harassment, abuse, or debasement of other players will be permitted. Players who feel like causing emotional harm to their fellows is part of the fun will not be tolerated and will be ejected from the game.

How will character creation work
We will create player characters together during the campaign's session zero so we can all be on the same page about what type of campaign the group wants, and how those characters can best support each other for an interesting story. Players joining after Session 0 can create characters through consultation with the GM outside of normal game time.
