About the adventure

Play as a member of an international group of gamers who came together to investigate a mysterious encoded transmission from space. The transmission led to a sea cave where morphers were stashed -- just in time to defeat a bus that suddenly transformed into a monster. It, like the other monsters that have started popping up, left behind a Curse Crystal when it was defeated. Your new powers let you purify these crystals, and they can be used to help create and upgrade armor, weapons, and other useful items. As more monsters and more Rangers appear around the globe, you'll cooperate with your team to investigate the ancient danger awakening on an otherwise peaceful Earth, as well as the history and nature of your new powers. Though this campaign will begin on a future alternate universe version of Earth, I'm open to extraterrestrial or nonhuman Rangers, and will provide starting options from the Across the Stars sourcebook in addition to the base rulebook. The team theme we settled on during Session Zero was combining technology with a mystical animal. We began at level 1 with the option to eventually spectrum shift into advance color spectrums. All experience levels welcome! For this campaign, there will be considerable elements of puzzle-solving and roleplaying in addition to combat. Just to be clear, while some elements of this will be handled at the narrative level, players will generally need to solve the puzzles to reap their benefits, though in-game mechanics can be used to get clues and hints. Thanks for your interest, and may the Power protect you!

How to prepare

I'll be hosting the players via Discord and maps via Roll20, with premade characters available if desired. Therefore, players will need the following: -A stable internet connection -A Discord account -To join the Discord server prior to Session 0 -A way to participate in Discord text chat (if this isn't feasible for disability reasons, please give me a heads-up so I can accommodate) -A microphone to participate in Discord voice chat (if this isn't feasible for disability reasons, please give me a heads-up so I can accommodate) -A webcam for video chat (optional, you're not required to use video) -The ability to complete a Google survey -The ability to open an editable PDF character sheet -The ability to join a Roll20 adventure -Dice (optional, Roll20 has virtual dice)

What I provide

I'll provide the base rules for Power Rangers plus the Across the Stars sourcebook (I'm planning to get the newer Power Rangers supplements as well). I'll provide Ranger tokens and maps via Roll20, and there will be a Discord server to host text, voice, and video chat. Premade level 1 character sheets will be available for use, modification, or reference. But most importantly, I'll be doing my best to make sure everyone is having a good time (with the possible exception of the characters)

Gameplay details

Before Session 0 I'll send out a Google form to collect anonymous information on Lines and Veils, where Lines are topics players don't want featured in the game, and Veils are topics they'd prefer to be glossed over if they come up. We'll discuss the aggregated Lines and Veils, expectations for the game, player questions, tech compatibility, and the rest of the safety tools during Session 0. But to briefly review the rest: X, N, and O are digital (can be typed in text chat, said vocally, or mimed on video chat), with the possibility of digital tokens in Owlbear Rodeo. Open Door means anyone can call a break or step away for their own wellbeing without being judged for it. Stars and Wishes mean that at the end of each session, all players will have the chance to say a Star (something they enjoyed about the session) and a Wish (something they hope for in the next session, including areas that could improve). I'm also glad to discuss concerns, including clarifying the content warnings, before the one-shot via direct message. Finally, using video is always optional.

How will character creation work

Players can create a Ranger from a blank character sheet, or they may choose (or modify) one of the premade Level 1 Rangers. Past level one, all players will be expected to level up their own characters (I'll provide the necessary excerpts from the Power Rangers RPG manual and sourcebooks). Note that once we reach Level 3 and Zords are unlocked, we'll set aside time to make sure everyone has created their Zords correctly and to discuss the Megazord.
