About the adventure

When a dying messenger reaches the little town of Osprey Cove, one of the Elders and several young guards are pulled into a plot to resurrect a demon lord slain in times immemorial. There, they find clues leading to a a long term plot to truly unleash the forces of the Abyss on an unsuspecting Golarion. Doomed by Demons is a combination of the Rusthenge adventure and the Seven Dooms for Sandpoint adventure path (levels 1-12), with additional content depending on player interest. Content will take deep dives into the lore of Golarion, and mysteries that have existed since the very first adventures in the setting!

About me

Mostly GMing for the last 30 years, I've had more ideas than I could ever get to the table. Hopefully, this will be a chance to get a few of them out of my head! I tend towards story-focused games that incorporate player input and plot threads, ranging from comedic tones to horrific ones. A student of myth, history, and true crime, I try to layer in some of the complexities that show up more in reality than in most published games - the forces of good and evil trend more towards the gray spaces in between, even the worst villains may have the best of motivations, and people are shaped by their pasts as much as their place in the story. I find it's a mindset that helps give a bit more depth to the world, and makes things feel a little more epic when done right.

Is willing to work with players, tries his best to keep the game fun and stays up to date with rulings and the like. Excellent story teller and able to get creative inspiration from the most unlikely of places (this is a good thing).

Jason is a Game Master who truly understands how to make Fabula Ultima an unforgettable play. His ability to craft with players an imaginative setting and seamlessly run with player-driven feedback is wonderful. He creates a perfect balance between compelling narratives, engaging combat, and opportunities for meaningful roleplay, ensuring every session feels dynamic and inclusive. Jason’s use of player ideas which are added into the overarching story makes the game feel uniquely collaborative and personal. His understanding of the Fabula Ultima system ensures smooth gameplay and allows both new and experienced players to focus on enjoying the adventure. Anyone who has the chance to play in his campaigns is in for something truly special.

Jason is amazing at taking players ideas, and running with them. Our game had a lot of different moving parts, but he incorporated it all seamlessly! He's a terrific GM, and I love playing games with him!

Jason's a good GM! He's friendly, open-minded to player input, and when there's a ruling that has to be made, he makes one and sticks to it.

Character creation
Creating your character

Character creation will happen during recruitment, with final details being worked out at Session 0. Characters will be established in the Foundry character sheets, and characters will be built with the Free Archetype, Gradual Ability Boost, and Ancestry Paragon variants in play Characters will start at Level 1, as established members of the village of Osprey Cove, and should use suitable backgrounds (there are several Rusthenge-specific backgrounds available for characters ) .That said, I do like letting players make the characters they want, so I'm willing to work on massaging a concept until it fits into the campaign (or vice-versa, on occasion!) *Do not* refer to the GM's section of the 1st edition supplement "Sandpoint, Light of the Lost Coast" There are significant spoilers involved, since the campaign eventually does head to the titular village.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

Have a headset that works with Discord, and some idea of who you want to play as a character. I will provide the virtual table top, voice channels, and other material needed to play.

What Jason Leisemann brings to the table

I will have the adventures and material set up on Foundry, and also have a virtual library of rulebooks available in case players want to try something they aren't familiar with. I also have a variety of 3pp content available to provide that little something extra if you'd rather play, say, a swashbuckling fairy dragon rather than a dwarven cleric. I happen to enjoy letting players go a little wild with character concepts, and behavior, asking only that the party make sense *as* a party most of the time. Rules are typically handled RAW, but are subject to tweaking as errata comes up or new editions land. However, the Rule of Cool has it's place - sure, the book doesn't *say* you can use an ice cantrip to freeze water, but if you want your wizard to try stopping the flow of water from a trap using Frostbite, I'm open to convincing! As a GM, I will be the biggest fan of your characters, and want to see them succeed, though sometimes the dice are cruel. What I won't do is be cruel myself - I want to see the story play out as much as you do!

Safety
How Jason Leisemann creates a safe table

Most content warnings are based on background material in the game that may or may not become important as the layers of what's happening are peeled back. However, this is a fantasy game with a lot of combat, so violence is probably going to be a pretty regular event. Personally, I go over specific guidelines or concerns regarding content at Session 0, with further updates as needed. X-card systems are encouraged, and channels are open for out of game discussion or commentary regarding issues that may come up during play.
