Orleion: A Dark Prophecy
Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Homebrew Game | Campaign
About the adventure
Setting: Orleion is set in a gothic medieval France, it’s pretty grim but her heroes have the potential to be inspiring, romantic, and triumph over evil. You will be playing an adventure full of intrigue, combat, exploration, and interacting with a cast of interesting NPCs. I will perform a French accent for most NPCs, just a heads up. This game goes hard on lore and worldbuilding, so welcome home if you're into that. Plot Hook: Your father, Viscount Sigismund Montpiere has sent you to deal with trouble in one of his fiefs. The empire of Orleion is currently in hot waters as a war with the kingdom of Rosen might be in her near future, so Lacroiette must pay its taxes. You are on your way to collect said taxes with a thunderstorm hot on your heels, whatever you find in the coming weeks is sure to change your life forever. Player Options: For the story, your characters must be siblings and nobles, you can play as humans or any other race that makes sense as Sigismund is known to be quite adventurous. Having the player characters be family brings an interesting dynamic into RP. You have an inclination that your father is testing each of you to determine who will be his heir. Though you are siblings, there’s an unspoken rivalry among you; (There will be no PvP. I have included this aspect for the roleplaying potential only). You can play whichever class you prefer but keep in mind that some are seen in a negative light. Mages are not very common and the empire keeps a watchful eye on them, your family has a bit more leniency on the matter because it's regarded for its stalwart warriors and in equal parts, its divine sorcerous origins.
Please fill out the following questionnaire so I can get to know you a bit: 1. What is your ideal character to play? 2. Which is your favorite genre within fiction in terms of entertainment and roleplay? 3. Does the deep lore of the world and setting that your character inhabits make things more interesting and fun for you? 4. Is there a favorite fandom, historical period, mythology, or universe you would like to experience in roleplay? 5. How combat-heavy would you like the game? 0-9. 6. How social heavy would you like the game? 0-9. 7. Do you prefer playing the hero or the villain? Or some muddy Anti-hero grey in the middle? 8. How do you feel about PVP? 9. Do you like games to be more realistic and darker or more epic fantasy with magical forces and the like? 10. Would you be willing to learn new systems and settings? And could you scale this willingness? 0-9. 11. And how interested are you in impacting the setting on a grander scale either at character generation or through play? 12. Character death, and mutilation? Are there any issues with it? 13. Do you have a good mic? 14. Have you ever used Fantasy Grounds?

How to prepare
I run the game on Fantasy grounds. I own the Ultimate license and all of the DnD books; so the players don't need to buy anything. The only thing you need is a good mic, a decent internet connection, and to install Fantasy grounds Unity Demo version.
What I provide
I'm providing the game's platform and everything that comes with that, maps, background music, and more.
Gameplay details
This game contains dark themes and concepts. Like any good adventure, it also has action, drama, and comedy moments to counterbalance the dreariness. The main focus of this campaign is to be heroes even though it's a challenging ideal to uphold. You will be challenged to put pieces of the story together and solve what's going on. The main appeal of this campaign is its intrigue, and when combat breaks out it's usually fierce.

How will character creation work
I prefer that my players attend session 0 to get to know each other and build off of one another's character ideas. Considering the characters are family members, it is very important to be aware of what's going on and work together to build a good subplot. Level: Your characters will start the adventure at level 3 and probably get to levels 12-13 by the end. My game is very homebrew but as a GM always emphasize that everyone at the table has fun and that the story we craft together is fantastic. This Campaign will last roughly 8 months or 45 sessions.
