About the adventure
In the 290th year of the 3rd Era, it was said that Emperor Uriel Septim V died on an Akaviri battlefield across the ocean, many leagues from home. After his death, imperial control of the mysterious continent began to wane, until at last, it was free once more from the influences of the west. Centuries passed. Emperors rose and fell, threats to the world rising and being put down, but the continent of Akavir remained; a mysterious land of which little was known. Now, in the 20th year of the fourth era, nearly two centuries after the emperor went missing, news from the east seems to suggest that he has endured. After sending an emissary to the Imperial City, the sitting Emperor and the Elder Council are deciding whether to even take this news seriously. As the last living Septim Emperor, many would argue that the current Emperor is a pretender and that Uriel V is the rightful ruler of the empire. There are many as well who consider the timing of this event as providence; that the gods have sent the heir of Talos to assist them in their time of need. Perhaps, these people say, now is the time to fight back against the Thalmor that have kept the empire in a chokehold for the better part of half a century. At the center of it all is a group of adventurers looking to forge their own path in the chaos. Will you throw your support behind the last Dragonborn Emperor? Or perhaps you will join the side of the current Mede Dynasty headed by Emperor Titus Mede II? Perhaps the Thalmor will earn your support? Or even the newly independent Skyrim? Perhaps you will forsake them all and carve your own destiny? The choice is yours. Go forth without fear, for your fate is written in the Elder Scrolls.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Greetings! I am Arc, Game Master extraordinaire! I have been running games for over a decade, and I have learned much in these years that has served me well across the dozen completed campaigns I have run. People ask me what I love best about being a Game Master, and what I love most about it is crafting a homebrew world that my players can touch, mold, interact with, and change through their actions. My games tend to be sandboxes, with various events happening in the world that players can interact with or ignore at their leisure! My games are also highly character focused, revolving around the PC's, NPC's, and the interactions and relationships between them. If you want a friendly GM who prioritizes story and character interaction, i'm the GM for you! Let's create an unforgettable story together!

Creating your character
Character creation will happen during Session 0, which will be a week before the game begins. Session 0 will be free since we will have little to no gameplay that week. Below, I will list everything you can expect from character creation. All characters will begin at level 1. Ability scores will be determined through the point buy system in the Player's Handbook. We will be using the standard XP leveling system. All official published content from Wizards of the Coast is allowed with no special permission required. Unearthed Arcana can be allowed under special circumstances. You'll just have to send it to me so I can have a look at it beforehand. I will always try to accommodate the character you have in mind. Published backgrounds that reference locations and peoples of other campaign settings are allowed, but some minor changes may have to be made to fit it into the campaign world. This will mostly include the renaming of particular locations. Instead of the published races, we will be using homebrew races to represent the different peoples of the world of The Elder Scrolls. All homebrew content can be found under the #homebrew text channel of the discord.
I plan for this to be a long campaign, taking the characters involved from level 1 to level 20! Though the setting will be the world of The Elder Scrolls, we will be using D&D 5e. However, we will be replacing the base races with homebrew ones to make them a little more lore accurate to the world.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Very little is required to actually prepare. You will only need a microphone as far as technology goes. You will also need a Discord account so that you can join the server. This is where all of the important documents will be and where we will be gathered during session. Finally, you'll need a Roll20 account so that you can be invited to the table. Other than that, you'll just need to bring your game face!
What Arc brings to the table
First and foremost, even though I require beginner experience for this particular game, do not feel like you need a good grasp on the rules to play. Participating in a session or two is good enough experience for me. I have introduced D&D to almost two dozen people in my 11+ years of doing this, so I am always happy (and indeed excited) to teach others! I will have a virtual table set up on Roll20 with maps and tokens. Players can also expect me to bring music to set the ambience and PDF versions of all of the books. There will also be the option of homebrew races and backgrounds unique to my own world. When it comes to combat, I tend to be light on the tactics unless the battle is particularly important, in which case I allow myself to go a little crazy with unique fight mechanics and intense tactics. However, I will adjust the tactics of combat to match the skill level of my players. I don't do character voices a whole lot, but they are also not anathema to me. In my opinion, a good character doesn't particularly require a unique voice. However, if I have an idea for a voice, I will absolutely go for it. I have several established NPC's in this world that I have used voices for in the past, so I will absolutely be using voices for them. Important characters will oftentimes receive voices as well. For others, a "voice" may just be a particular cadence or manner of speaking. Some characters may also have differing vocabularies to indicate their level of education.

Safety
How Arc creates a safe table
Session 0's main purpose will be to give players a chance to create their characters together and link their backstories in some way. If we are all new to each other as people, this is also a great time to properly introduce ourselves. Session 0 will be free, since little to no gameplay will occur. During this time, if a player has not done so already, they can also fill out their consent checklist and send it to me. After each session, I will also ask three questions of the group; what they enjoyed about the session, what they feel might need improvement, and what they are looking forward to/want to see more of. My open door policy runs even outside of game hours. If there is a question or concern regarding the game or one (or more) of your fellow players, feel free to message me about it any time.
