About the adventure
Tyranny of the Dragon is a mega campaign made of the two modules Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat. This is a heavy combat focused campaign set in the world of the Sword Coast. As an Adventurer you will be thrust into an epic world of well, Dungeons and Dragons. You will need to travel through a dangerous world where dragons fill the sky and cultists invade the ground. You will travel across forests, plains, swamps, and even the skies in order to stop a dragon worshipping cult from accomplishing whatever nefarious plans they have. In the beginning you will need to infiltrate important bases to gather information, save allies, and take out important figures in the cult. In the second half, negotiations and politics will take effect as you will have to consider options that your allies will either approve or disapprove of. After all to defeat an army an army of your own is going to be necessary. Be Prepared to delve into caves, mansions, and even a castle in the sky in order to save the world from the destruction of the Evil Dragon Goddess Tiamat!

About me
My name is Kai. I've been playing and DMing for D&D 5e for around 8 years. I've had experience running both modules and homebrew campaigns. My goal as a dungeon master throughout my almost decade of experience has always been trying to provide as much fun and immersion as possible in a safe and friendly environment. New or Veteran, RP or Combat Andy’s, All types of players are welcome at my table.

Creating your character
Characters will need to be made on either Roll20 or DnD Beyond. We will be starting at level 1 and using either standard array or point buy for stats. All books will be allowed. Session 0 will be mostly for sitting town and getting to know each other properly. This will be the time to bring up concerns and triggers. AKA what you would not like to see in the game, but more importantly what you WOULD like to see in the game. I will be marking all concerns in a google doc and will enforce it through our games holding both myself and others accountable in the process. Even though we are playing a premade adventure I can always change things up to suit players wants and needs I just need to be informed on what those things are. Additionally we will make sure we introduce everyone to each other proper. After all this campaign is due to go on for a long time so we best get as comfortable as we can with each other.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord Account - All communications will be done through discord. This will also be the best way to contact me. Roll 20 Account - The game itself will be played through Roll20 A Microphone - A big part of D&D is the social aspect. As such being able to speak and talk through your actions and with the party is very important. A Webcam (Optional) - While not necessarily required a webcam can be an excellent safety tool. Sometimes we don't know when to say when something's making us uncomfortable but our facial expressions can tell a lot more. Not to mention if an emergency occurs we can very quickly notice and take a pause where necessary.
What Kai Helton brings to the table
I try to provide an accepting, safe, and accessible environment for all players. Fun and Safety come first and foremost at my table above all else and I will do everything I can to assure that. As for physical things, I will be providing maps both custom and premade as well as tokens for player characters and enemies. As well I will be providing a discord to communicate with me and other players both in and out of this game in a safe space. I also will implement my own pizazz in this game by using character voices and ambient music to hopefully provide a more immersive experience for everyone at the table. Overall, I'm a bit of a stickler for rules but I also love player agency. So you can 100% convince me on rule of cool and I'm always open to suggestions and concerns whenever.

How Kai Helton creates a safe table
Session 0 - Session 0 will be a good time to set up any triggers or concerns as well as a time to get to know each other and of course make our characters. Luxton Technique - Before going into a scene that might have triggering content I may stop the game to make sure everyone is okay with the scene. Open Door - You can take breaks or leave the game for any reason. No need to explain yourself. We are not here to judge Breaks - There will be a 15 minute break around half way through the session to refill your water, get some food, or just relax. Stars and Wishes - At the end of every Session we will give out stars to highlight specific moments in the game that really stood out to us and wishes to highlight what we want to see in the future.
