How to prepare

Please make sure you have a free Forge VTT account and send me your information so you may be added to the game. After session zero, if you have character art that you would like to use for your characters, I would gladly create a token that can be used on your character sheet. You will need a microphone and a Discord account for communication in game. Webcams are a plus, but not required. You will be sent a Discord link when you sign up. Character creation will happen via Session Zero with everyone at the table.

What I provide

As a GM, I value immersion -- I want you to feel comfortable living out your character's goals. I put a focus on setting the scene and using vibrant characters (with voices) so that we all feel silly together. Players should never feel obligated to act out their characters, but it is always encouraged. I also value players feeling safe at the table. I'd give my games a solid PG-13 movie rating on content and room for colorful language if everyone at the table is okay with that. This also means that ANYONE is welcome to my table no matter race, religion, gender and sexual orientation. Combat will tend toward challenging, but only exceptional enemies will provide a significant challenge. We will be playing using Foundry VTT using Forge, which will require a free account to access. If you have never used Foundry VTT before, I can set up a small session (15-20 minutes) to familiarize yourself with the VTT. If players have access to character art they want to use, tokens can be created for their specific character. If you do not have previous art, I have access to a service to create an image for you. Music and ambience will accompany the world and I have access to services that provide both.

Gameplay details

Lines and Veils will be an active part of character creation in Session Zero as well as with check-ins throughout the game to be sure that the content is still acceptable. If there are any issues a player would like to bring up, I would be happy to address them if the need arises. X-Card will be handled through Discord during the game. Players are expected to be respect all other players in the game. If there are any issues in this regard, they will be addressed immediately. We are here to have fun and adventure together.

How will character creation work

Character creation will happen during Session Zero with the whole party. This will avoid players creating similar characters without knowledge of other player's decisions. We will also discuss whether characters have previous experience with one another or are strangers brought together by chance. Character stats will be rolled on Foundry, 4d6 drop the lowest, and placed where you see fit. If you roll a character with too many negative scores, we will re-roll until you have a viable character. Starting level will be 1st level. The basic books for character creation will be the Player's Handbook (2014), Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and Xanathar's Guide to Everything. If you would like to use another D&D book or a related third-party book, it will have to be approved before session zero. Many questions will be asked during the character creation process and you DO NOT need to know the answer to all of them, but they will help my (and maybe the other player's) understanding of who your character is and who they want to be.
