About the adventure
The night is young and the drinks at the Yawning Portal, the free city of Waterdeep's most famous bar/tourist attraction, are flowing. Celebrated travelogue and nature writer Volothamp Geddarm (he of the well-known Volo's Guide series) has a missing person's case that he needs your party to solve for him... one that will unwittingly get them knee-deep in the shady dealings and hidden plots going on here in Waterdeep, the greatest city in the world. You see, there's been quiet talk going around about a hidden treasure, left behind when the former Open Lord was ousted from power: a treasure worth hundreds of thousands of gold. A treasure that your party very well might be able to claim for yourself if you're daring and canny. Ready yourself for an exciting urban caper, with villains and rivals galore. Here there is gold--but there may also be dragons. And of course there will be heists.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi! I've been the forever DM among my friends for years now and I've finally decided to do this professionally. I started the hobby back in 2010 with original flavor Pathfinder, then switched to D&D when 5e came out. I dabbled a little in World of Darkness along the way and back during lockdown I started running D&D games online for my friends. I've finished running one full-length module (Waterdeep Dragon Heist) and one mini-module (Strixhaven: Year One), with a second full-length (Wild Beyond the Witchlight) nearly complete as well. I run text-only games, using roll20 as the virtual table, with Discord for out of character chat. I'll provide the books we need for the game--you just need to bring yourself. I can't bring you funny voices, but I put my all into my games and love working with my players in order to integrate their backstories into the modules and homebrew adventures I run.

Creating your character
We'll be creating your first level characters together as a group, during the lead-up to the start of game and the session zero. All classes, backgrounds, and ancestries from the core books, Volo's, Xanathar's, Tasha's, Mordenkainen's and the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide should be legal, as are the alternative ancestry and stats rules from Tasha's.
Every other Sunday midday.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a player account on Roll20, a computer large enough to see the maps on it, plus a Discord account for our out of character and between game discussion. (NOTE: This is a text-only game, although we play in real time.)
What Bee brings to the table
I'll supply the battlemaps, rules, and sourcebooks, as well as the module on Roll20. I'll also customize a playlist for the party and their adventure post-campaign.

How Bee creates a safe table
Expect a mix of humor and drama, sometimes taking a hard swerve from one to another. Gameplay itself will be a mix of theatre of the mind and battlemaps--but if I know ahead of time there's going to be a combat in a session, I'll try to make sure I have a map for it. My knowledge of the Forgotten Realms setting is fairly decent, at least in its current iteration, and improving with each new book I read in the setting. We'll make sure to go over any lines and veils needed during (and in the in the lead-up period to) session zero and if and when any new characters join.
