About the adventure

You are in the world of Jacale Murlan. Two known continents, which are in an ancient war with each other, and several scattered islands. This campaign starts the adventuring party on the Continent of Klavek, and are in the country that bears the same name. You are answering the call to aid a small village with a trade disruption that has left them with little remaining supplies, and official help will not arrive in time before they completely run out. The campaign starts at level 1 and has the potential to go up to level 20. It is a sandbox campaign, so you are able to say where you want to go and what you want to do and how you want to affect the world.

About me

My name is Anthony, and I LOVE being a GM. The first actual game that I was a part of was me trying to use the strategy guide for Final Fantasy Origins, the first game as Origins had 1 and 2, and convert it somewhat into a tabletop campiagn with my own spin on it. It actually went surprisingly well. I then did the same thing with Final Fantasy Tactics, which was more focused on placement and tactical combat. That turned out pretty good as well. Then some friends of mine, the ones who played my FF1 campaign, had me be a player for a 4e one shot. It was interesting, but it was odd to be on that side of the game. Then I tried to run a short adventure for 5e, as it was newer, and I haven't looked back since. The sheer enjoyment of being able to come up with things on the fly and react to whatever shenanganery that the players get into is exhilarating. The way I run my campaigns is mostly sandbox. I use a mix of 3rd party content, which I usually change up quite a bit to fit with the world better, and homebrew. There's some official content beyond SRD, but it is a small amount. Each campaign has a starting point at a different area in the world, and you get multiple hooks at the end for you to decide what you want to do and where you want to go. There are multiple adventure paths and sides to take and enemies to take down, but which you find and how you approach them are up to you and your decisions that can have small impacts or campaign spanning and changing consequences, be they good or bad.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be done during session 0 using Shardtabletop.com, which is the VTT that will be used for the campaign. Characters will start at level 1 and will be using an upgraded array of 17, 15, 13, 12, 10 and 8. You will have access to my character creation options in the VTT. If you wish to have an option that is not available, you may inquire about it, and I may be able to quickly add it. There are 3rd party classes and sub-classes as well as homebrew classes and sub-classes to choose from if you so desire.

The current party

As of the time of writing this update, the campaign is 60 sessions in and are level 7. Party composition is currently: Bard/Rogue Bard/Rogue(protege of the previous one) Warlock Fighter Rhythmancer(homebrew class I created) They are currently in a large battle of insects and worms and such that were worshipping a rock that they were sent to grab by a blacksmith. The rock seems to be connected with some ancient stuff and wanted one of the characters to kill another. It didn't happen, but they all decided the rock wasn't nice, and they needed to remove its power, which the Rhytmancer figured out was by killing the worshippers. Sigger small picture is that they are trying to make a name for themselves in the general region for the BIGGER picture stuff which is currently trying to un-corrupt a deity while keeping other deities from just killing the one outright while also taking on an organization they know very little about.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need to make a shard account on www.shardtabletop.com, but they are free. You may purchase a subscription if you would like, but none is required to participate. You must have Discord as that is the application that is used fo voice. And a microphone is required. A webcam is not required as video is not required, but it is accepted. As I am using an online VTT, the campaign will be done online. Dice will not be needed as the VTT has a built-in dice roller.

What DVDM brings to the table

I will bring my VTT and all the content that I have in it. I also will do some voice acting. There will be a mix of Theatre of the Mind and battle maps, but the majority will be on battle maps. I am consistently adding in more content to my VTT, so more maps will be added over time.

How DVDM creates a safe table

I will go over safety tools and content warnings in session 0. X, N and O cards are digital in the main chat of my VTT. I will also be going over character creation and homebrew rules, as well as group expectations, in session 0 as well. Session 0 will be free.
